2nd Gen "How To" 2008 R56 shaft seal replacement

Hi, I am trying to replace my axle shaft seals. LS no problem. RS has a corner of the engine block covering the seal!? Auto Trans. Do I really have to separate the trans and engine or is there a trick? TIA
