I went over 100,000 miles on my oem struts & springs. Never had a cupped tire, none never. Could be the rotations. :D Shock/struts go away...

^^^ This Front drive cars tend to cup rear tiress unless rotated at regular intervals. Babs Skooby had rear tires like that when she bought it....

Is it the size of the ring lands on the pistons causing the problem? Could you re-cut them to accept the available rings? Just thinking out loud here.
No dragon for me this year. Been down there the last 3 years & have done 4 OFOTD's. This one is crossed off my bucket list. Maybe in another year...
