The transmissions in the 2002 - 2004 Coopers use a Midlands gearbox & are not the most robust design. Look for a 5 speed from a 2005 or 2006,...

All you have to do on that 06 is take the torx bolts out of both down tubes. The tubes will drop down. Pull the tops of the tubes toward the side...
