Last week the SES lamp came on...no symptoms, just the light. I took it to the shop and the code read "misfire". After a couple days of troubleshooting, the mechanic found that the fuel pump was the issue and replaced it. It drove fine for nearly a week until this morning. My son said it made a soft "pop" followed by a sudden power loss with the SES and now EML indicators. He pulled over and shut the car off til I arrived. Upon restarting, only the SES lamp is on and the car drove fine back to the house. The only common variable between the two incidents is that the car was low enough on fuel for the red light to come on. I'm taking the car back in today and thought I'd throw it out there to you guys for some input.

Fill the tank and scan for codes.

And I suggest getting in the habit of keeping more fuel in the tank....
The fuel cools the pump....prolonging its life....running a car with less than a gallon of fuel in the tank means thecpump is not submerged....so not getting cooled....
Maybe you will get lucky and the pump just Sucked up some air resulting in low psi...resulting in a misfire that will not reoccur.....

After running the codes, the mechanic found just one: P1125, Throttle Body Plausibility. It was a one-time occurrence and the guy drove the car about 40 miles without any issues. What do you think?

With running that low on fuel anything is possible once. I never go below a 1/4 tank.

Run it for a few fuel fills and see if it happens again.
