Steel Horse Poker Run
Hey guys,
It's Denise! I'm really looking forward to increas the size of the event this year. I don't think we'll have much of a problem.
Mike, thank you so much for you help and I'll touch base with you shortly. We are having a meeting tonight to work out more details. Oh, one other item...add an extra 0 to the money we raised last year. We raised over $12,000!
There is no possible way we can thank Jim's donor and his family for the gift we were given. We are doing this in memory of his donor and as a thank you for his family to provide the gift of life. Our lives have improved greatly because of this. Although we have had and continue to have lots of obsticals post-transplant, we have been living life to the complete fullest!!! Here's our blog if anyone is interested: fahrjr.blogspot.com
Hope to see a huge line of MINI's Oct 28th. I love my Little Red!

So... I spoke with Denise last Friday and got a little more detail on what the day is looking like.
The day will officially start @ 1000 and end at 1600. There are going to be trophies for best MINI and best Bike according to "people's choice." So, if you don't feel like doing the drive you are welcome to show up and show your car off for the day and purchase a Poker hand for $20 at the Steel Stacks. Then you can chill and enjoy the live music that will be playing all afternoon.
"Day-of" registration will be from 1000 - 1200. Then Denise and Jim will say a few words to officially kick-off the event. Shortly after that (~1220) the bikes will be turned
loose to do their poker run. And the MINIs will be turned loose for theirs.
Now, given the time constraints and location of everything... the MINI's poker run will not be a "true" poker run like Kathy ran a couple years ago. It's going to be more of a rally to tables where you will get most of your hand... then make a b-line back to the stacks to enjoy the food and music and do a quick detail for the car show if you are so inclined.
My initial SWAG at the route has it at about an hour to get from the start point to MoA... Where you will grab your cards. Then there are two potential "B-lines" to get back. Each will take about 30 minutes or so. That way you have about two hours to relax at the Steel Stacks before heading home whenever you feel like it.
As the fine tuned details come together, I'll pass them along but for now you have a better idea of what's in store.

Just wanted o bump this thread again. We are a little over a month away from this shindig, and the organizers are looking for an awesome turnout of MINIs. I just finished a dry-run of the MINI Rally route with Jim and Denise (Little Red). Now we just need to know how many people are planning to show up for the event.
Again, there will be day-of registration starting at 10:00am. BUT... you can also pre-register by filling out and mailing in the registration form here.
If any of you who are planning to attend want a .gpx or .gdb file for your programmable GPS units, let me know.
It is going to be an awesome time... make sure you don't miss it! -
just another bump. Also, if you are planning on coming... HERE is the place to RSVP. Please drop a note on the event wall as to whether or not you are going to do the rally and/or car show.
