Someone correct me, but if the S and non-S models use the same cat, you can typically find 'em used. I know a guy in Harrisburg PA selling a used downpipe/cat combination in decent shape. Or head to a muffler shop and have them weld one in.
I'm with Dixon you can get a used cat. New is very spendy. Are you sure the noise is not the heat shields. Check that first & go from there. Welcome to M/A.
