Your dealer is a tard, mine said the same thing. It does not raise it, but it does lower it, it's just slow. Click it to unlock and release, click and hold to open the sunroof part, then once it's done click and hold to open the top. It takes forever. It does not close it the same way, put the key in the door lock, and lock the car, hold the key in that position and the top will go up, though you have to hold it until the top closes completely. But forget about all of that and get this, Top Commander for R52 It is one of the best mods you can get for your convertible. And get the wind deflector too.
    Great car choice

    Welcome...

An 07 Convertible would be an R52. For only the 07 Model Year the Tin Top was the 2nd generation R56 based model, the Convertible was still the 1st generation R52 model that is supercharged.

Sure, there are some issues, but nothing to be really scared about. Proper and preventative maintainance will keep your MINI running for a long time.

Welcome. Yes, your should be an R52. You should not be scared, most things get blown out of proportion on Internet forums. The difference between SC and Turbo is that the former is better. :eek6: Of course we have a lot of members that will argue the opposite. That is a topic that has resulted in lively debates for the past 4 years, or so.

Anyway, the '07 R52 is probably the best model of the SC Mini's to have. As the end of the cycle for both the super charged engines and the R52 convertible model it most likely had all the problems shaken out at production.

I am a proud owner of a first production month build of an R52 (non S). The car ha been a joy for nearly 7 years and 57k miles.

The dealer can look at the service history via the key fob so long as the service was performed at a dealer.

    If it were me....

    Change Oil
    Flush and replace Brake Fluid
    Flush and Fill Coolant
If Manual transmission, replace gear box oil.

If I had the time I'd run the car up to someone like Chad at Detroit Tuned, only a 3.5 hr drive from Columbus and have him go over the car from stem to stern.

    But thats me.

    New question to post:

    2006 R52.

    1. How to replace license plate light.

    2. Dealer says can't use key FOB to raise/lower top outside the car. Is this
true? Is there any way to program this function? It is in the owners manual,
but the dealer said the feature is no longer available.

Thanks! I'll try it. I already have the wind deflector ($500) and it really does the job. Wife's hat stays on at freeway speeds.

Great Post I have almost the identical car except in Blue and I have been wondering the exact same things. I only have about 2 weeks left on my warranty as my in service date was June 16. I am in Medina Ohio
