I just got my business property tax appraisal..... The city auditors in their faulty wisdom felt my business property has increased in value by 140%, yet properties all around my shop have been on the market for awhile and haven't sold. So, to fight this I have a quote from a certified appraiser that wants to bill me $2,600.00 to provide me with his estimate, then I need to hire an attorney, make an appointment for a review with the city. The city has a cut off date for people that want to contest the appraisal. The slots available are quickly filling up. After the date for review closes, that's it, no arbitration, new taxes go into effect. Seems criminal..... OK, I understand the city needs more money to operate due to the poor economy.... In my situation, when something like this happens I cut back..... They apparently don't understand this concept.....:mad2:
The government is in a very good situation where it can just ask for (charge) more money and we do not have much recourse. If the government was a business it sure would be out of business. Sounds like the appraiser is part of the game. Looks like they are doing a good job of making it too much trouble and cost to fight the increase. Sorry.
This crap is going on everywhere, the politicians have all begun to think we all work for them and the government rules us.
My plan... Retire in a few years, cash in all my chips, and leave. Buy a boat... Sit out in the ocean along the "Ring of Fire".... Wait for a volcano to spew out another island.... Let it cool down.... Plant a flag on the island... Claim it under the name of King "Chuck".... Plant a folding chair in the surf... Set up a "Tax Free" haven for investors. My job..... Critique evening sunsets with my "Professional Margarita Mixer" staff.
I'm sorry this has happened to you. Good luck with getting it resolved. My solution, raise your tenant's rent a bunch....
I cried a little laughing so damn hard. Awesome. Sucks major donkey, about the raise in tax though. Like it was said, welcome to todays Amerika.
I woder why business's are moveing out of the country????? If you decide to move your business don't move to Mexico or China. Move to the Daytona Beach or Port Orange area of Florida, The city and County will give you all kinds of incentives and tax breaks to get you down here to hire people. It is a great deal for small clean business's.
Oh you mean like this............ How did Florida become 'pill-mill' June 12, 2011|By Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel For the past year, federal agents say, David Kidd and Christopher Grigg traveled almost weekly from their homes in Ohio to Florida, where they — and others working for them — doctor-shopped throughout the state, buying thousands of prescription pills during each visit. The group is suspected of taking at least 50,000 powerful prescription pills, which have a street value of more than $1.5.million, back to Ohio and West Virginia.
I'm an excellent meal coordinator and beverage mixer, if you're looking for more staff to help "shelter" your investments :biggrin5: But yeah, the tax thing sucks. Had the house appraised to refi to a better %, lost about 30% in value the same year our property tax assessment value went up 15%. But I'm a teacher and out here property taxes pay for schools sooooo, I'm paying myself. Right?!?!
Hate to hear that but like others said the system is set up to where it is hard to do anything about it.. I'll see you on the beach with drink in hand!!! My situation is not for a business but my house.. Just announced a proposed route for a highway to run "close" to my property. Say 300' Sure I get to stay but my property value will drop like a rock as who wants to live next to a 4 lane road that I can't even access close by. They will have money to "start" buying property in 2012 so everyone has 8 years or so for their property value to drop before the state buys them out, and of course if you sell your house first you legally have to tell the perspective buyers about the road coming thru!!!
Hey Jimmini Florida got to be the "Pill Mill" because Calafornia got the rights to all of the ""Mary Wanna"" Doctors. :beer
UMMMM...isn't California calling Florida a Pill Mill akin to Monica Lewinsky calling someone a fellatio artist...? LOL:donut1:
