I have some acreage out in the country that we hoped to build a home on one day (that seems impossible now that my job was eliminated and the cost of building seems to just gkeep going up) so it's unimproved and all I do is keep it mowed and clean. Last year the taxes doubled on it! When I called the assessors office I was told that all vacant property in the county was considered undervalued and that it was all being re-assessed in accordance to what it was really selling for. Seems reasonable I guess, till they sent me the comps . ..... all of which were commercial properties! The comp list got to me the day before the date for filing for reconsideration of your bill closed for the year! I won't let that happen again, as it's supposed to double again this year! There's absolutely no market for vacant homesites right now, so I can't sell it till the market improves again..
