    Hi Guys:

My MCS has bout 110 K miles on her. I had the struts replaced with Koni FSDs and had an H sport sway bar put on about 2 years ago. The rear suspension was making a lot of noise this winter so I went ahead and greased the sway bar. The suspension is still making a knocking noise and I can hear the spring. The guy that assisted me thought that the struts were bottoming out.

I am going to get the struts checked at which point they probably need to take the rear suspension apart.

Are there rear suspension bushing that should be replaced that could be responsible for the noise? Are there other parts that need replacement that could be responsible for the knocking sound?

    Thank you for your help.

When my FSD failed it knocked.

The most common cause of knock in the rear section is exhaust mount related. While on your back grasp the exhaust and swing left & right, watch & listen.

A loose drop link will knock.

    A loose strut will knock.

If it is an early 2003 model, the trailing arm bushings could be torn. With a mirror and flashlight the bushing/mount can be inspected, also look upward at the bracket for signs it may be shifting.

Look for a crack in the lower control arm.

    Grab, wiggle, and observe everything.

If all is OK down below, look at the boot hatch latch etc.

Def check to make sure the nuts on the rear struts are tight, I've seen them come loose.

also make sure the bushings for the swaybar are not too lose. if they got too warn before you lubed it, it could be moving. i have seen this before.

    :cornut: THREAD JACK
1.How old/many miles when it failed?
    2.Did you like the Koni FSDs(ride, damping,rebound)?
3.How did they compare with other shocks that you've used?
4.Application/scenario that I'm talking about is SPIRITED street.

:Thumbsup:Thank you all and now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
