I have 2008 mini cooper s convertible sidewalk addition with auto trans. It shows the triangle warning light often. My husband has done a scan and it shows "5E15 No message, Transmission (EGS 43F or SSG43G)". He has changed out all 4 speed sensors and still the same. Also once in a while the odometer and tach don't work as well. He is getting ready to get rid of my baby, because he has done so much so far. He has changed out the stereo to a 7" screen with backup camera, fixed both back window regulators, changed the oil pressure switch and the oil filter housing gasket along with the drain back plunger in the housing, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, no more leak in the driveway :) Help as he is pulling his hair.

    Welcome to MA!
The odometer and tach sound like it could be a bad connection or bad ground. I am not sure about the codes. I will look them up in the Bentley manual this afternoon once I am home and post what I find.
When did the transmission problem start? I believe EGS has to do with the Steptronic shifter signal. This may be a problem with the wiring in the steering column area. I just say that because you are having a problem with the interments also. I would check all the plugs to make sure there is no corrosion and they are plugged in tight.
As I said this afternoon I will see what I can find in the manual.

I have read on forums that a bad tachometer can cause speedometer/ warning light problems and also alternators / batteries starting to fail.

The mini has an Avitar remote start system that my husband thinks is causing all sort of electrical issues. The doors will re-lock when driving, speedometer and gas gauge not working sometimes, and not low oil pressure light when coming to a stop. Could this be possible?

First generation MINI’s are sensitive to to voltage changes so bad grounds, batteries, alternators and any non oem additions would be points of interest.

This absolutely could be the problem. The mini has several boxes that talk to each other. As @00Mini said are picky about wiring. I would look at all the wiring around that alarm and any other addition that was put on the car. If the BCM and ECU get out of sync it will be a trip to the dealer to unbrick your car. I would be very careful and ditch the alarm.
