Found an '04 Cooper S with 190K mileage thats for sale. Owner says runs great but throwing a code for O2 sensor which from reading the forum could mean a lot of things. Had sat over the winter so needs rotors surfaced and hoping O2 is just bad gas.

It's a 3 hour drive to pick it up but it's under 2k for price. I see a lot of high mile R53's on here so I'm thinking of jumping on it for an extra car. I'm not afraid of wrenching on it but I'm new to MINI's coming from the Jeep world. Is this biting off too much to start?

    Hmm, under $2000...

    I wouldn't even consider it....

BTW, where's it located, please give me exact GPS coordinates....

Sorry, couldn't help myself, I wouldn't think twice and grab it before someone else does for that money.

BTW, if it was maintained even half way decently, the motor itself should be good for 300k or more.

As long as you aren't spending your grocery money to buy it, under two-grand seems like a pretty low risk purchase.

Any car with almost 200K on the odometer is a risky proposition, but if it seems to be a decent car, and it won't be your daily driver, it could be a fun second car.

The '04 MCS was only available with a manual transmission.

Well I decided to pass on this one but have my eye on a 2006. It was a long enough drive to make me think twice. Plus I would like this to be a third vehicle/possibly daughters first car in a few years so I'd like to find something we can wrench on together but I'm more positive it will be reliable enough for her.

    Thanks all for the advice!
