WOW very nice Crayola!!! I had one as a rally car back in 1978. Sure glad to see one preserved so nicely. So many were used up & thrown away. More pictures when you get a chance please.
Right now it is in rebuild mode. When we first got it from my dad it had sat for about 15 years and only ran here and there for minutes at a time. Once we started pulling it apart it was clear how much attention the engine needed. All of the parts are assembled and this winter it will become about actually putting it together. It has all custom fiberglass fenders and a fiberglass hood. I am hoping to get it all cleaned up and use it as a fun- kind of show car. It is unique and the end goal is for it to be completely period modified. It is sentimental so I am trying to keep it as close to how my dad built it as I could. This is also my "learning" car. I have spent countless hours in the garage with my dad but I was always the gopher. This is my chance to get into it myself. My [mechanic] boyfriend and I are rebuilding it together.
Update: Decided to upgrade to a 3TC engine (vs. the 2TC Dad had in it.) Starting to tear down the motor this week. Plan is to have it running by Spring. All polished and pretty. It had been done a long time ago. My first engine rebuild!!! I am so pumped!
Awesome little rice burner!!! Those were the s#*t back in the high school days. Love em at the vintage races these days.
The guys that does paint less dent removal has an old Datsun owned and raced by Bob Sharp. Here is a picture from his shop.
As much as everyone liked the 510 it seems only those with sponsorship ran the 610. I'm sure it was great racer in its day.
