had some issues with fueling that i sorted out over the weekend. was running lean under load / no load.. all the time actually. rough idle, low rev stumble when cold, lack of power at low revs and accelerating from cruise.

a friend had a walbro 255lph fuel pump sitting around his shed that he wasn't using, so it was donated to the mini. the only non-bolt in mod i've ever had to install in it. it's not pretty install wise, but it's a massive improvement. so far have had no stumble, no hard starts when cold, car just feels healthier.

i couldn't find any info on the install, i just know that some others have done it. for anyone that is interested, basically what is involved is had to modify the cradle. firstly remove the centre section that the stock pump mounted in, do away with the stock pumps o-rings etc. then we took out the lip of the bottom of the swirl pot so the walbro would sit as low as possible. walbro is mounted inside the swirl pot with it's own filter sock.

sorry didn't think to take photos while we were modifying the inside of the swirl pot.

will have to see how it runs when the tank gets low on fuel. if i have coughing and sputtering i'll need to install a surge tank.
