Any suggestions for getting the clutch replaced in Blake’s 05 MCS? I’m looking more for someone with the time, experience and shop space who wants to pick up some extra cash. Yes, I’m lazy and cheap (but most of you knew that anyway). It’s tough to sink another $2,500 in a $4,000 MINI.

Have you called the Rover guys in Canal Winchester? If I was spending the money I'd have Anson do it. MINI's, so much fun, but that fun ain't cheap.

Thought about them Chuck, haven’t contacted them. I agree with Anson but I’m not going to tape that many scheckles to an 05 with 101K on the clock.

I do understand. Maybe someone in Nick's farce-book club would know of a place.

101k on an '05 S isn't bad, but I guess it depends on how hard it's driven and how many clutches this makes for replacement.

From what I know Blake is a good driver & I'd guess this is the original clutch. Buying the car second hand there is no way to know how the original owner drove it. I'd say that contributed to the shorter life of this clutch.

Original clutch. It had 40K on it when we bought it as a one owner. Good car but the book value is still low. Still running but starting to slip in higher gears when accelerating hard.

$2500 to have someone install a clutch is still cheaper than a new car and you like the car.

I would do a compression and leak-down test, and look at any other maintenance records available before making a decision. The only way to make the clutch job worthwhile is to 'drive' the cost out. Don't want to do the clutch if there are other problems looming.

Buy a case of beer and invite the Columbus area members over. We will get that new clutch in there

Cold right now... better have a heater in the garage. (I use the radiant heaters and love them). Previously used the kerosene ones.. that probably explains what happened to my brain cells.

I have a Kerosene heater it just takes the chill off. to do a clutch I really like to have the garage open to give me more room. Too cold for that.

Mark are you two coming to the dragon?

I’m planning on it as long as I’m not banned for driving my P-Car. Still in the same house.

Sam, Canton is easy for me. My office is in New Philly. Let me look at my schedule and I’ll get back to you.

I won’t ban you from my place either, but we might need to park all the really low cars at the church and pile in the back of the truck for my BBQ...

Hey OP did you find a person local that could do this job for a reasonable price. I'm in Columbus too and am in the same boat as you.
