Even at 15K $$$ this one would need lots of TLC to bring to a mechanical standard I could live with. 126000, yes a bit high, but you could track it with a pretty clear level of no guilt.![]()

Carfax relies on mechanics to read and enter the mileage. They may know how to fix engines, but many are dumber than a sack of parts they forgot to reinstall on cars they worked on.
I'm sure that the Carfax for Rufus, the 2006 JCW I bought a few years ago is completely messed up. It was a Canadian spec car, so it read distance in Kilometers. When the owner imported it to the US, he changed the gauge face to read MPH, but left the computer showing the # of KM driven in the odometer. US mechanics reported this number as MILES and not KM, so it looks like the car had 138k miles in Carfax, when it was actually 138km (86k miles) when I bought it. I had the computer switched to show miles when I bought the car, but now Carfax is going to show a car that suddenly went from 138k miles to 86k miles and say that I'm a fraud.
Garbage in, garbage out.-

maybe my estimate was too low - 6 days to go and already $19,053
you may also want to check the RMW powered 2003 for sale. Not sure what's up with the check engine light, but it looks like a nice example with a 1.8L stroker. Seller states the motor was installed at about 50k so it has about 36k on it, and overall. I just ask why you would bother with anything other than 2005/06 when putting that kind of money into upgrades. I am not in CA, so the smog stuff doesn't bother me right now, however, I have too many cars and literally just want that motor, not the rest of the car. No reserve auction, though, so high bidder gets it.
I's like to know more about the exhaust setup (cat?), but nice wheels and KW coilovers point at a pretty decent build that could be a great deal if you want a whole car and spend some dollars to sort it out.

That GP has been ruined in my estimation. Maybe a good detail man could bring it back. If not it will be a GP that needs paint. Heck even the interior has stickers plastered on it.
That red JCW looks sweet. Don't worry gang I won't bid the price up. I'm staying with GTI's & Babs will never give up Skooby.-

I'll just NEVER understand why people buy these cars and then never drive them. MINIs are made to be DRIVEN!
I bought my now heavily modded '06 S new, off the lot and it has over 155,000 well-traveled miles, from 4 season daily driver, thru a myriad of track days and many trips to MOTD. It has never let me down and I plan to keep it.-

and keeping a steady stream of GPs going - here' sone with allegedly less than 4k miles (some carfax discussion in the comments about a 13950 mile entry). Bidding already at $20k, so not one for those with a regular Mini Cooper budget

The incorrect mileage in the carfax is likely due to a mechanic reading the next service interval number in place of the odometer actual miles.
27.7k for that car is far too much. For me, that is Audi RS4 territory.-

Another very clean GP, but man... you can get a clean face-lifted R53 for a fraction of that and have lots of fun modding and driving without ever having a second thought about 'destroying a classic.' I couldn't bring myself to buy one when I went looking for my R53 for that very reason. I knew that I'd wanna mod it and it just wouldn't feel right. I get people wanting one. I've driven one. I just don't think I could do it (well... maybe if I had unlimited funds and another R53 in the garage to play with).
FYI: I love my red space cloth seats. They clean up spectacularly, but a friend of mine in Texas had an upholstery shop swap the cloth in his GP seats with perforated grey leather, which looked beautiful and really dressed up the interior (Again... a stealthy, tasteful mod, but did he 'destroy a classic' by doing it?)-
