I think I could have fixed all of the decal mess over time... hell, I probably repainted or polished out Rufus to the same extent that a fix of the decals would take.. I might have been tempted if I didn't already have Rufus out in the garage. That really was a good price. Add $1000 to return any aftermarket / modded stuff to stock and you'd have a pretty clean GP.

I was also very encouraged by the 12,000 mile red JCW that sold for $18k. Rufus has 80k on the clock, but now looks much the same (as long as you don't want an OEM car and like my taste in mods). I don't keep Rufus as an investment... I keep him as a toy to be enjoyed, but it's always nice to know that there is a strong market out there for an asset.

and it sold for the amount of $45k - nice flip - own for a year and drive 400 miles, make $9k profit. I need to invest into 2006 GPs, I guess.

I am guessing $12k because it isn't a JCW. BAT buyers are into the badging and don't really know that a JCW isn't much different from a regular S.

Looks like a time capsule and you'd feel bad about changing anything from OEM to aftermarket, so technically there's a lack of fun in this car for me - a) you can't drive it much or those low low miles will quickly go up, and b) you can't work and tinker on it much, because it is all nice and OEM, likely doesn't need much more than a tensioner, a few o-rings and an engine mount (even that doesn't seem to be leaking). Swapping intakes and exhausts on this would de-value it. So kind of a boring car for me unless you just want to look at it in your garage.

$10,600 and just a day or so to go! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mini-cooper-s-49/

It is a very well kept car. 15 years old and in spectacular shape. Aero kit all around. Space cloth seats (which wear beautifully and keep you planted better than the crappy leather that MINI used on the Gen 1 cars. It's a beauty (and makes me very happy w/ the price I paid 4 years ago for my R53 JCW).

Actually... that's an interesting point when taken literally. I don't even see any drips of Cosmoline, which I would have expected after 15+ years.

Try to buy any nice used car right now... Prices "on average" are up 25+ % over last year. Cars that are harder to find and popular are even more expensive. What you gain in the sale of your Mini you lose buying anything else. I bought a big SUV in mid April. Today, I doubt I could even find one offered online for less than 20% more for the same condition vehicle. Dealer lots here are empty, trade-ins aren't coming in because new car sales are down, so there aren't any used vehicles to sell. The dealer I got my SUV from in April said he had room for 50 cars in his lot but only had 13 for sale, because nothing was coming in from the dealerships across the street he usually gets his inventory from. Used prices are skyrocketing.

Now, that doesn't completely explain the prices people are paying for nice R53s, but it does add potential buyers to the bidding pool who may think this is a good place to "invest" their money rather than to buy something everyone drives that will suddenly depreciate much more rapidly when supply and demand get back to normal.

I may just clean up my blue Mini and see if I can get it on BAT one of these days. 90+k miles, though, no matter how well taken care of, will mean $10k max, or more likely, it won't be accepted by BAT. They rather list a 1997 Volvo wagon than a 2005 R53

Wow that there is all the money. That is what I paid for my 06. I wonder how genevamotorcars sources all these very nice MINIs he sells.

The 90K miles GP could become a quiltless Track Car with many miles and laps of fun, fun, fun and more fun. Looks good, goes like snot and you can get an engine block now from sneed, race prep, if needed. So I'm watching, just need more garage, trailer and a tow vehicle. Not going to happen. :)

I am pretty sure the reserve on the low mile GP is more than the current bid. I am sure that we'll see some healthy bids in the last 10 minutes. Getting the popcorn ready
