Time will tell. I need to drive a gen 1 GP. I can say mine is a hoot and last I checked the prices on the GP2 seemed to be stabilizing. Plus it appears it will be the last version with a manual.![]()

$17,000 - most bidders there are not aware of what those extra parts are worth

And sold $36000, way over priced, I think even if you have a shred of intelligence, you might think this one smelled a bit, but maybe someone is a lucky owner now, but it will not be a driver on daily I am sure.

$20,100 with 2 1/2 hours to go. This will go up if there are 2 or more who really want it. I think the trick to get crazy money is to take 20 pictures of a paint depth gauge all over the car. Subliminal "collector car" message.

Ok, cash in all your Christmas gift cards to put a bid in on this 8k mile GP example
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-mini-gp-23/
Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee
#700
8k miles
looks totally stock, comes with the GP custom car cover and Mini branded wash bucket
3 owners, first one had it 10 years and 3500 miles.
I am guessing that this one won't sell as high as the recent low mile examples, mostly because the seller picked he wrong time of year to let it go. Everyone is broke. My guess is it'll bid to $22,000 and that likely is below the reserve.-

That's just crazy! I thought about a Gen 1 GP some three years ago when I got my '05 JCW, Rufus. I decided that I like modding and making the car my own too much and couldn't bring myself to do it to a GP and destroy the value that way. I would have wanted to keep it OEM stock and that just took too much of the fun out of the ownership experience for me. Plus... a car shouldn't be an investment, in my mind... it should be a pleasure. If I thought "What if I'm in a wreck and lose 20k of value when I'm out on that club drive this weekend", I wouldn't enjoy the car as much.
