That GP has been ruined in my estimation. Maybe a good detail man could bring it back. If not it will be a GP that needs paint. Heck even the interior has stickers plastered on it. That red JCW looks sweet. Don't worry gang I won't bid the price up. I'm staying with GTI's & Babs will never give up Skooby.
Really surprised with less than 90 minutes to go and absolutely no action. I realize it’s not a pristine garage queen but it’s still a low mileage GP.
45 mins and 13.5k - going to be a matter of how many serious bidders show up with a few minutes to go
Not the virus it's all that carp stuck all over it that really has devalued this GP. Why the seller didn't hire a detail guy to bring the paint back is pretty dumb. He saved a couple hundred & lost thousands. This car deserves a caring owner. Time to put your bid in Jeff.
I could most likely do it myself, but it would take all winter & part of the spring. I'm old, slow & methodical these days. It's much easier keeping after Skooby & the Bread-Van these days.
I don’t know what BAT charges for the transaction and which party pays but someone got a great diamond in the rough deal. We saw Dave.0 do some very remarkable work on a number of cars working in his driveway and single bay garage. I don’t mean to make it seem like it would be a walk in the park but with a few tools a some elbow grease one could have a very nice driver.
I think I could have fixed all of the decal mess over time... hell, I probably repainted or polished out Rufus to the same extent that a fix of the decals would take.. I might have been tempted if I didn't already have Rufus out in the garage. That really was a good price. Add $1000 to return any aftermarket / modded stuff to stock and you'd have a pretty clean GP. I was also very encouraged by the 12,000 mile red JCW that sold for $18k. Rufus has 80k on the clock, but now looks much the same (as long as you don't want an OEM car and like my taste in mods). I don't keep Rufus as an investment... I keep him as a toy to be enjoyed, but it's always nice to know that there is a strong market out there for an asset.
