Interesting.
Acetone really messes up the lens. -

WOW ! :eek6: You have to be careful and not rub it all over the lens, just the silver area.

Yeah, your'e probably going to have to buff that with some acrylic polishing compound... Aquarium shops have the good stuff.

I tapped of the Red lens so that did not happen. I never use Paper towels because they leave lint and crap everywhere.
-
I was using the blue shop ones.

If you just want to remove the gloss for painting the silver part try liquid sand paper/deglosser.

I'm still not sure how to do the tails.
I tried a q tip to rub off the chrome, but it just melts the plastic. Looks like poop.
I might just smash them in frustration.
Try to find a decent looking aftermarket set.
( ones that are NOT 3-d looking!!) -
I like your whole wrap idea. It is going to look great with all the white trim.
I have wanted to tackle the de-chrome on the rear tail lights but have been afraid I would screw them up. Now I can really see the difficulty. Oh well, you can always purchase new OEM and try again.
Are you going to do anything with the headlights such as a "white" Joey Mod? -
Headlights are now black.
I ended up ordering a new set of smoked led tails. -

I'm heading down to the states this weekend. Send me your Addy, ill ship them from nd. -

PM in your in box...

So, screw up with the paint today.
I had painted the headlight rings with a gloss, from my gun. Then hit it with a matte clear from a spray can.
Something didn't like each other. -
Cool crinkle paint.

Car is looking good! Never mix rattle can with real paint, or that has a high possibility of happening!
At least it should be easy enough to remove and start over. I would actually leave the trim pieces as a gloss, that would add a little more class and less VatoZone... Just my opinion though. -
So I'm wondering. I cannot find a matte clear that I can spray.
Only rattle can. What should I do with my interior white? I do not want the gloss.
Must be flat. Unlike my belly. -
I did a little test spot. Under the door arm rest. I sprayed this. It didn't affect the real paint, but am nervous trying it on the other pieces.
Maybe try this??
-
This is the paint I am spraying.
