Car is looking good! Never mix rattle can with real paint, or that has a high possibility of happening! At least it should be easy enough to remove and start over. I would actually leave the trim pieces as a gloss, that would add a little more class and less VatoZone... Just my opinion though.
So I'm wondering. I cannot find a matte clear that I can spray. Only rattle can. What should I do with my interior white? I do not want the gloss. Must be flat. Unlike my belly.
I did a little test spot. Under the door arm rest. I sprayed this. It didn't affect the real paint, but am nervous trying it on the other pieces. Maybe try this??
Never heard of them... Most of your automotive paint shops have a pre mixed matte clear, or you can get a flattening additive. Still not sure why you dont just use a base/clear instead of a clear over a single stage? Base color is cheapish, the stuff I use (after all my discounts normally 50% off of sticker) is only $20 for a half pint, and you would have leftovers! The clear is the expensive part... $175 a gallon for the one I use (my cost) and another $40 for a quart of flattener... Sherwin actually has a good matte clear, not sure on price, and you may be able to find it in smaller quantities. (probably see if you can find it in a quart+pint of hardener.) I actually quit spraying when I left Ft. Campbell, until I started on the Rat-MINI... Its amazing how it all comes back to you, when you get back into it. Think I might start airbrushing again this summer if I can get the equipment, haven't done any of that since highschool!
There is an R53 in NJ that was actually painted Alpine White by the current owner. Why MINI insists on offering that pollen stained pepper white... is beyond me. They look so much better in a real white.
I looked at an 09 jcw clubman online before I bought this. It was in Chicago. Pepper white with hot chocolate interior. Loved loved it.
Pepper White is what the people in England think White is supposed to look like. Just look at Barry's (MC2 ) teeth next time you see him from drinking all that damn tea. chip chip cheerio
So.. After spending way too much to try and paint the interior bits... Ive packed them up and sent them on the bus for a 4 hour ride... Going to a friend that owns a body shop. Told me he will paint everything for $150..:mad2::mad5: Thats bloody cheap. Oh well. Allows me to start on the audio build. FYI. Matte white gets dirty.. so easily.
What amp is that? That thing is huge and reminds me of an old Zapco or HiPhonics colossus amps. Nice subs and Amp rack.
I see lots of fiberglass in your future! You know that if you use dryer sheets in the shower, it pulls out the spores and stops the itching right?
I started installing 15 years ago. There have been a few brands on my bucket list. Morel, Zapco, rainbow, mcintosh, Amp is a big 6 ch Zapco. Running a set of morel 3 way up front and a pair of morel 8's.
The temp of the water or brand of dryer sheets doesnt matter... They can even be used ones, so you dont smell like Snuggle! The fabric somehow grabs the fiberglass shards like velcro, and yanks most of them out.
Yep, the 18s with RFs will feel like it has wooden wheels, not exactly like a caddy. But if that is what you are going for then awesome. Traction will also degrade a little with so little compliance in the sidewalls. Larger wheels can look really good though. Nice rare JCW.
