My first US motor bike was deliverd yesterday. I took the bike out for a test run around the small streets where I live. It felt like my first gravel rally in the MK 2 Escort...scary! LOL I never got out of 1st gear but riding the bike felt very strange. Being 500lbs bike the steering felt heavy and the brakes really sharp and to make matters worse the throttle was more sensitive than a R50 with sprint booster! I did about 1 mile before I gave up due to the wrong clothes...I was bloody freezing. First impressions are good.....looking forward to riding some more but rallying the Mini will always be king!
My goodness bikers are sensitive! I joined a British bike forum, did the welcome thing and some folks replied so there we were chatting, I mentioned I had a rally Mini then posted a link to MA about the build and got my post closed! The Admin PM'ed me to tell me to chat to folks by PM not online! what a crappy forum. I got spoiled by Nathan having such a fun forum I forgot myself.
Slick looking... Good thing you posted that, I was about to close the thread and PM you that 2007 Triumph America threads lacking images of same are required, otherwise the thread gets closed here on M/A . :arf:
For fun I posted another "hello" telling the other folks from the first "hello" that we have to PM each other ....most likely I'll be banned tomorrow. haha Ah yes the bike is sweet....I just need to learn how to ride it. No "ride it like you stole it" for me. haha
I'm with you there. Cars tend to fall over just a bit less often (particularly when standing still) and when they do there's usually less chance of road rash. I say cruise on the bike and save the rambunctious stuff for the car.
Yea man watch yourself out there! I can tell you every car is trying to kill you. I've had people look straight at me and still pull out. It has been shown that a driver can look at you and not see you even when paying attention. Ride with a buddy if you can, theirs safety in numbers. One last thing, if you can run loud pipes they help. Nice Bike have fun.
Thanks for your concern chaps, mates buddies. I'm going to be super cautious and even when I get more confident, I'll be still riding like a grand dad Haha ,getting knocked off the bike will mean no more rallies so that thought will keep me alert. The main purpose is to do a 20 minute back road commute but saying that even at slow speeds accidents can happen. I went for this bike because 1/ it's British 2/ it's huge! 3/ one owner with just 6700miles
That things is going to look awesome in Costa Rica......:smile5: Or Just come a little further up north to NH No helmet laws here....:cornut:
I ventured to work on the Triumph! My second day on the bike and I’m already found out I’m a magnet for folks in cars/vans on their mobiles wanting to pull out in front of me. Overall I think it will take me a while to become a biker. I sort of compare the bike/car experience to a sailing boat and a speed boat. The sailing boat is fun but requires constant attention whereas the speed boat you can just focus on going fast! Haha
Nice bike. When I was a kid, I always wanted a bike like a Triumph Bonneville or Norton Commando. My eldest brother had a Royal Enfield.
Yes so far the Triumph seems a nice bike, stable at slow speeds and relaxing to ride. EMini Parts! Don't even think I'm coming up to you for the 5th gear! hahaha
A nice ride up as soon as you cross the border throw the helmet off and let the wind run through your hair.....sounds awesome..:cornut:
Nice bike Chris. I always wanted a Bonneville. Gave up bikes in 1970 after crashing my Norton Atlas. Be careful out there. As you already know, you are invisible to people & never have the right of way. Have fun stay safe my friend.
Thanks chuck, Crashing is not an option so steady as she goes! I hope you were not injured when you crashed? Today a co-worker suggested a back road to home/work which was really nice so I'll be taking that route from now on, less stress.
