All are welcome! October 22-24 this year. Here's the forum. We'll be adding more detail as the year progresses. 2010 MINIs Slay the Sleeping Dragon
Guys, Just made my hotel reservations for this one for the second year I've always been a little reluctant to go to the full blown MOTD with several 100 MIN's running around with widely varying driving skills This is pretty laid back, think it was like 20-25 Cars last year No Vendors, No Hoopla but the driving, oh the driving!........ The Smokie Mountains in Fall are breathtaking to boot
I'll be in Arkansas for the Merry MINIs in the Mountains event the same weekend, but my daughter's B'day is in mid November and she lives less than a half hour from the Dragon......should be plenty free of cars and bikes by then!
This sounds like a good one and I am sure the place is a sight to be seen this time of the year. If I could make it I certainly would like to go, but alas I can not. Once we can move to NC (which is the plan) I will be there. You really should try MOTD. It is a really good time and the large number of MINI's is not the problem you might think. There are so many drives and activities going on the roads are not as conjested as you might think. Jim
Well we did it...... Haven't had a vacation in over 5 years. Always wanted to hit the Dragon. Just booked our rooms, one of those Willow cabins. Can't wait to see the fall foliage. I talked the wife into it this morning. Thanks to you Jim PS... Jim, I'll be bringing that bottle of 10 year old Laphroaig single malt scotch, it sure would be nice if you could help me consume it.
Glad I could help Chuck, but I was talking about MOTD 9. :nonod: Don't drink all the scotch and make another reservation for April while you are there. Jim
I can't help ya with the scotch either Chuck but I can certainly hit the pavement with ya'! I'm gettting down to fontana village th's night and have a route laid out for Friday before the event starts on Friday night. Happy to have you join if you can make
MOTD 9, yeah I know, but had to jump at the "Sleeping Dragon". Couldn't pass it up. Someday we will get to do MOTD. Still, I'm excited about the fall down in the hills. It's a little over 7 hours from Columbus, and I'll only miss one day of work at the shop.
I understand and know you will have a good time. Wish I could make it, but sadly, there is no way. Seven hours to the Dragon is great, as it is nine for me. Jim
Just a quick note.. we have about 8 or 10 MINIs top for the weekend before (Oct. 8th - Oct. 10th). The goal was to keep it small... if you are in the area and want to hang out or join us please let me know. We have two THREE bedroom cabins, one of the two cabins still has one room available. Two of the MINI peeps are staying in the lodge.
Soooo..... How many MINI's for the week of 10/22 - 10/24? Are we going to have that big panoramic photo with the crane? I'm thinking this is going to be a nice laid back event. Unless it's always crowded on the Dragon?
It is VERY laid back. Last year about 30 cars showed up I had the dragon and hellbender to myself if I rolled out of fontana village pretty early
Oh.... Well.... That's different, I'll stand in line for a good old fashioned hand made ice cream any day.
You need to check out the posts about last years event on Tar Heel Minis. Sightings of nuns of big wheel bikes, naked deer and more. You are going to have a great time Chuck. Jim
