Just wondering if anyone at MA is going to the SCCA Solo Nationals 4-7 Sept in Lincoln Nebraska. Or, if anyone here has attended the event before. It might be fun to share your experience.

I'm going for the first time this year with the GreyLenz, 2009 JCW, Silver on Silver. I have 2 yrs autox experience in the STX class. I'll be running in D Street Prepared at the nationals. I have most of the mods allowed in the class except I've not flared the wheel wheels so I'll be running much smaller wheels and tires than the competition.

There are quite a few MINI's in the H-Stock class and a few in other classes.

I've heard there are like 20 MINI's entered. I've not checked so it may not be true.

    Numbers and Classes

There are 1166 entries which makes the Solo Nationals the largest motor competition on the planet. Here are the classes that MINI's are registered in...

    1. D-Stock...JCW's 3ea...CooperS 5ea...32 entries
    2. H-Stock...Coopers 13ea...15 entries
    3. Road Tire FWD...Mixed Mini's 7ea...21 entries
    4. D-Street Prepared...JCW's 2ea...22 entries
    5. Street Touring FWD...Coopers 3ea...10 entries
    6. Street Touring X...52 entries but no MINI's...mostly BMW 3's and RX-8's.
    7. Street Modified FWD...CooperS 2ea...10 entries

So, total MINI's...35 out of total class entries of 162. If it wasn't for all the Coopers in H-Stock and RT FWD MINI wouldn't really be represented.

The Street Touring Classes really have no place to fit for the CooperS or JCW. They go in STX but they just can't compete. They also fit in DSP, which is the class I'm running in, but the JCW really can't compete with those older BMW 3's. Still, it's gonna be great fun trying. :ihih::ihih::ihih:

    Best Laid Plans...

Well, after all the effort I've had to withdraw from the nationals because of work. We have a major event with a key customer that I have to attend on the very days I was scheduled to run. Totally bummed.

But, I'm going to plan way ahead for next year and should be able to go for sure. In prep for this event I finished some final mods and will lay that out in my 2012 SCCA DSP Prep thread soon.

I'm also planning on going to at least two National Tour events in 2013 and hopefully a couple more. The Lenz is in great shape and I'm looking forward to those tests.

    :(:(:(

    Way,

It might be of interest to some to post the list of mods Craig has in place for D Stock. See if he's interested.
