With all of the effort being put into the site, I’m way behind on the GP2. However I was able to take it to Gran Turismo to have the car lifted up and setup for more sports oriented driving.
Prior to lifting it up. The car was essentially setup for “stance” not performance driving.

Rear being lifted first.

Overall insides looked pretty good. However, I did find some rubbing in the wheel wells where the under perfection has been removed. I’ll need to address this before it turns into an issue. (Will get pic next time car is up)
Here is what it looks like now..

Wheels in my opion fill out the arches well. It also rides much better.

1 “finger” space... this is essentially a baseline setup. As I drive it more and get some track time will adjust camber etc..

The brakes are WONDERFUL.. Can’t wait to really get out and test them, but they seem very strong.
Back ones “look” whimsy compared to the front. Granted I know why that is..
Engine bay - and yes already looking into a different cold air intake. This one is pretty much a hot air intake.
Some of the add-on carbon bits need refishing:
The clear is failing on both handles. Been looking into ways to fix.
This I believe can be polished out:
And some of the “blacked out” trim needs some love or to be touched up (Not the chipping on the blacked out MINI Badge above and belt line tape is showing some chrome etc.
Overall, road trip 1 down. No issues but didn’t expect any. Have not found anything the previous owner didn’t describe in detail. Looking forward to cleaning up some of the cosmetic items and building out my tuning/changes list.
Now off to drive it a little!Attached Files:

My thoughts on value and build vs buy ---
- When paying with cash --- not financing, value is determined between buyer and seller. A finance co will use a popular guide, i.e., Kelly Blue Book, and any difference is up to the buyer to come up with. You need to consider this when it's time for you to sell.
- Buying someone else's build will be costly for someone --- either the builder takes a loss, or the buyer spends money he's not likely to recoup. Then there's questionable reliability --- how much do you know about what went into the mods --- workmanship stds, part reliability, wear-and-tear, etc. Yes, it will be an enjoyable novelty at first, but in the back of your mind --- questions --- what if's --- how long before --- etc.
- Building your own satisfies the need for accomplishing something significant, plus, it's done your way with no compromise. There's a certain amount of pride that shows when you drive it.
In my case, cosmetic mods have little or no value --- I want a "sleeper", something that looks like it's an old man's car (which I am), but has outstanding performance that no one expects (which I have). I bought an '07MCS in late '10 just to build it. After 7 years and about $40K worth of learning and mistakes, I almost have what I wanted. However, I know I'll never get my investment back. If I was to do it again, I'd start with an R53 (less initial investment), add a big turbo and go for max HP again --- more potential HP available. I like to think I have 30W blood --- thoroughly enjoy getting my hands dirty in the garage. I don't think I'd ever be as satisfied as I am now, if driving someone else's build.
In the long run, you need to make your own decisions, based on your own feelings, not someone else's. I hope you can dig deep enough to uncover them, and decide what you really want to do.
In the meantime, don't give up on the MA conversion --- it's starting to look pretty good.-

Getting ready to roll out and pick it up... thank goodness the rain stopped and sun is starting to poke through... Hopefully I can get some decent picks and it doesn’t get to dirty from the spray on the way back...
Truck needs a bath..-

Go with the Detroit Tuned belt line back out tape as I have tried them all. It’s 3M tape and it looks perfect with a little extra wide to help with shrinkage in cold weather. I redid mine and it looks great.
FYI the wheels (rims) look awesome and are a 1,000 times better than the butt ugly TRON rims that came stock on the 2nd gen GP.-

Went to look it up. I think I have the BL-7000SLX. They appear to be having a sale. https://www.quickjack.com/
I would use their measuring guide to confirm... and if you call they are very helpful also. Here is the link to the measuring guide. https://www.quickjack.com/quickjack-measuring-guide.html-

Car has Alta Parts, they are suspect as garbage. Reason enough for me to shun the vehicle.

1) stroked (or more in the process of)
2) oversized valves
3) ground control coil overs
4) converted to black interior
5) racing dynamics front lower
And a lot more... had that car about 10 Years now. Currently the original, umolested ones are shooting up in value. Mine didn’t fit that mold... had about 170k on the engine before I pulled it out during a full restore that I did. Also helping a buddy shove a LS into an 88 Esprit. Also another long story... but a fun one.-

My plan is to get the AEM parts, do Dyno run in current setup, change to new setup do another run and see what the difference is. A buddy of mine had the Dashcommand WiFi plug so we actually did an initial data log last night for some really short stuff. I’ll see if I can get more/better ones this weekend. However I’m currently running without a tag while I wait for it to come in so drives have been short. Also, been researching and calling around to see who and how to fix the spot on the wing where the clear coat failed.-

So with the garage fire plus my other projects (boys RZR fuel injection conversion.. the GP has been sitting outside. Couldn’t stand it so I did some “cleaning” and organization in the lean to next to one of my sheds.
Here I am part way through the cleaning process... yes there was more stuff in there.
Ok... a little later. It’s pretty narrow so this still won’t work. I tried pulling the car in and couldn’t open the doors.
Needless to say.. the kids bikes were taking up some space. They outgrew them a long time ago. They now have mountain bikes.. so these are off to good will.
The pile of scrap they is going to a buddy’s dumpster that is doing some renovations on his house..
Some of that is fire repair scrap also...
Now need to figure out what to do with this stuff... hmm.
Test fit.. much better. The 80s esprit pit bike temp location..
Ok - so here is where we ended up last night....
Not enclosed... but at least covered. Have another tire rack to hang. Need to wash it today. It’s dirty with the pollen..-

Now just trying to figure out how to put together a video..

Granted - the buddy who called is the one that is putting a LS into the Lotus.. that’s a good time. When we fired that up with no exhaust.. well it scared us to.
It wasn’t thaaaat late when we tried to see if it would turn over after balancing the gas tanks..-

@MCS02 - Love this picture montage. (actually frames from a video..)
Dad.. sorry, thought you had cool cars.... note run was only 12 minutes... how can you be bored in? Do I suck that bad?
((Edit.. this in the middle of a heal/toe down shift with a nice rev match... and he is asleep.))
Ok - A little better...at least he is awake (notice my face...)
Sooo finally 1/2 throttle in Stage 2..
Granted residential road so couldn't really hit it. But at least he has the "yea.. it can pull"
((Edit.. and you have a double chin.. are you getting old??))
