These both look to be Cooper versions. Note the roof rack on the red roofed one. More photos at U Spy: New 2014 Mini Hatch Wears its Camo Again and Hits Munich's Streets - Carscoops
Yes it does & I think it has. Search around a bit & you will find some un-cammo pictures of the F56. You most likely won't like what you see.
I'm withholding final judgment until we see it, but it doesn't look good at this juncture. From what I've seen of images of the new MINI 'sports car' due out in 2015 or 2016, it doesn't resemble the '14 F56. From all reports, the replacement for the Roadster and Coupe is projected to be a completely different model MINI in a manner not unlike the Paceman, Countryman, etc. This gives me hope for the day when I finally replace my '14 Roadster.
The blue mini van in the background is a short wheel base Kia Sedona. The MINI does not look that mini next to it. My wifes Sedona dwarfs my R53!
The latest Yurpeen pedestrian safety regulations have made most cars have longer front ends - and often a higher bonnet/hood, to stop pedestrians from impacting the cylinder head or cam cover through the bonnet. This may not make much sense in the Merka where pedestrians and vehicles tend to mix much less than in Yurp.
Another automobile safety world-first from Volvo April 1, 2013: Volvo is known all around the world as the undisputed car industry leader in terms of automobile safety. Today, the company unveils another world premiere with the External Vehicle Protection (EnVeloP) system. The announcement comes one year after Volvo Cars launched a world-first with the Pedestrian Airbag Technology on the all-new Volvo V40. The External Vehicle Protection system consists of a small container built in the roof of the car, which contains a folded-in, vacuum pulled balloon of similar material to existing airbags. In case of an unavoidable collision, whether it is with another car, a roadside object or even when coming into contact with surface water, the balloon unfolds within the blink of an eye around the car. By completely enveloping the car, the External Vehicle Protection system ensures that damage and personal injury as a result of the collision is minimized. Volvo Cars has a long history of leading automobile safety research and innovation, exemplified by many breakthroughs and world-firsts. With this new, revolutionary External Vehicle Protection solution, Volvo Cars takes this heritage up to the next level. "For years, we have been looking at how to increase safety in our vehicles, and the airbag has played a central role in that journey," says Thomas Broberg, Senior Technical Adviser Safety at the Volvo Cars Safety Centre. "This new safety feature is the embodiment of the Volvo brand philosophy, Designed Around You. All we did was taking a very literal approach to Designed Around You. Instead of finding new areas inside the car where we could add more airbag-like safety systems, we asked ourselves: why not cover the complete car in an airbag-like solution?" At this moment the External Vehicle Protection system is still in a testing phase, but Volvo Cars is investigating whether the system can be fitted in future Volvo cars.
I think it would be funny to wrap my car in the MINI development camouflage and drive around seeing if the old tried and true R53 gets some good press. Sounds like a good MOTD idea. :aureola: The automotive press will think MINI has returned to its 1st Gen roots and is working on the next MINI of the future. After all the 1st Gen is why everyone jumped on the MINI brand band wagon to begin with.
Dear God, I was only kidding!!! Hey Volvo maybe super loud horns would keep prospective human roadkill out of the way.
They already are in production - Jaguar have been fitting them for some years and now Volvo are too: [ame=http://youtu.be/AI3yVTDLiaY]2013 The all new Volvo V40 - Pedestrian Airbag Technology - YouTube[/ame]
FTN! If they don't have the self preservation instinct and wherewithal, to not walk out in front of traffic... then they no longer get to particiapte in the ol' gene-pool.
Ok i just gotta ask -- how many people get hit by cars ??? I was always taught NOT to run out in front of them....was I the only one taught this?
Yup but those are the ones that are breeders. Also people get hit by cars everyday see.... Woman killed in Pottstown hit-and-run identified | Video | 6abc.com
they are trying to create a solution to a problem that is really non-existent...people are not getting hit by cars in such droves that it would require all of this safety nonsense...this is just more ******** by european safety groups...this is the main reason why the days of the compact mini like the R53 or the classics are gone for good...as long as these clowns continue to push for more and more and more "safety"...the bigger cars will be
