Well, good luck to him then!

Apparently it's already raining in the Suzuka area. At one time they said they might start the race early so it could finish before the storm gets closer. As far as I can tell, there's been no change to the schedule so far. If I see anything, I'll post it.

Well do you remember the Schumacher years at Ferrari? Then the last 4 years with Vettel at Red Bull? This is just the next cycle of dominance & it's only been one year not multiple years.
I don't care for steamroller dominance either. Thankfully there has been some great racing behind those two Benz boys. Ricciardo, Bottas & Magnussen have kept me entertained this year. Oh & the battling teammates have held my interest just a bit.-

It's pretty much always been this way though, one team dominates for a season or two. Often the wins are by pretty big margins too.

There are a lot of people trying to decide what happened, from whether race control did all the right things, to whether the flagging was correct and consistent, to what was going through Bianchi's mind, and why.
And they should. That wasn't the last race of the season. They should be doing everything in their power to improve on things that might have a chance of helping to avoid this sort of incident, and as soon as possible. After all, the next race is this weekend.
On the other hand, it feels wrong now, to me, to point the finger of blame toward Bianchi while he's fighting for his life.
On the third side of the coin, the responsible authorities need to view this clinically, without emotion. To take the extreme example, if Bianchi and/or his car are determined wholly at fault, then they can avoid the usual knee jerk over-reaction rule change(s). I don't personally think this is the case (i.e., Bianchi entirely to blame) but they need to consider all unsavory possibilities in order to decide who/what is NOT to blame so they can avoid wasting time and resources fixing what isn't broken.
I hope they get it right but it's a complex and thankless job...better them than me.-

If a tractor or any safety vehicle is on the course there should be a full course yellow with a pace car. <period

Bernie is showing his true colors again. Check out this article over on Jalopnik.
That's right, Bernie, Putin is a great guy...and there's no corruption in Russia, none at all. :rolleyes5:-

My personal independent speculative analysis is that the stewards have been told to be a bit more lenient on handing out punishments and allowing the drivers to "just race" and that's why the lenient handling of Alonso's two car pass.-

On the contrary, the plan seems perfectly logical. What is ridiculous is the restrictive engine allocation in the very first implementation year of the new turbo V6. FIA is now sleeping in the bread they buttered.
I wonder how many Vettel fans had been planning to enjoy watching him put his car through the paces on the Austin track on Saturday...-

Baku looks a lot like Macau where I don't think F1 has ever raced, though many of its drivers have. And if the twisty bits look a bit scary in this World Touring Car, bear in mind that several classes of motorcycle race there too....

Bernie is always talking about another race some where. One is to keep pressure on the existing races to get more money out of them. Second is to look at back up plans should an existing race say that's too much. Finally, because it keeps him in the press.

I've got a Tamiya 1/12 model of that with Nigel's signature on the box. Got it at the CART race in Portland the year he won the title.
