I thought they mandated uniform fuel spec's some years ago?

Me thinks the sensor company, when talking about the differences in fuel was referring more to LMP where you have different types of fuel being run in the same race and class....isn't Le Man's run under FIA? One sensor for FIA across the board? 2cents

    Last line.....

"The second thing is the different fuels in Formula 1. In F1, every engine manufacturer has its own fuel.’

I would have thought that F1 would have only one fuel they use, maybe it doesn't all come from the same source since they race on different continents....

That said, per the last last line, me thinks Horner was saying that if a team was "lucky" enough to get a sensor that reads low, then that team could run more fuel and gain an advantage, whilst still seemingly to be operating within the FIA requirements.....

Wow, wouldn't it cut expenses, and even the playing field if there was a fuel standard? Honestly I always assumed that F1 had a fuel partner that supplied the same fuel to all the teams.....hell Bernie could have been a share holder...

Ridiculous, your trying to say F1 is more green and you allow teams to formulate the very fuel they use? [emoji20]

Those LMP cars look interesting for sure. The Toyota does remind me of the late 60's Japanese styling, in a word odd.

No wonder the LMP cars run into each other with those fenders!

No race comments yet? I thought there were some interesting sub-plots today:

Discrepancy between the Ferrari's in the race
    Interaction between the William's drivers

As of the 2nd race, the lack of noise is truly killing me. I'm never sure if my audio system is muted or not until a commercial comes on :cryin: It's just sad...

And this fuel consumption business. please FIA, just give the guys however much fuel they need to keep their foot in it for the entire race, so they can, you know, race??!

Now that messages from our sponsor are out of the way..............

No question Kimi had an issue from the outset-that was not the Kimi-racing I am accustomed to seeing. We will have to wait for him to have reliable mechanicals to see him surface. Hopefully in a race or two. Even after a couple of years of seeing it, it's just very strange not seeing Ferrari drivers on the podium.

Red Bull is getting their act together very quickly. There are going to be some exciting races between them and Mercedes this year.

Ah, and Massa. I am of two minds on this. It's true he has more than paid his dues living under team orders with Michael, Kimi, and Fernando. However, I also agree with Steve Matchett. The team has way more data than the driver does, and if there is no question in their minds that he is holding up his team mate, well, maybe he should move over.

I have no problems with team orders. If a driver wants to do his own thing, he can put up the mega millions to own his own team. When it comes down to it, he is an employee (albeit an extremely important one) just like the guys in the garage and back at the factory.....everybody has a boss....and the ownership cares about team points..

But, boy I have to respect the guy for giving the team the high hard one, and racing his race...

Personally I think the sound would come over the TV better with a little adjustment of the sound balance that is broadcast. There have been some videos posted that sound a lot better than what we have been hearing on TV.

I totally agree on the fuel loads....to a point. I agree with the FIA that there should be some standard, but disagree an the means. Give them all a minimum "MPG" , or equivalent, for the whole race and do away with the max allowed fuel flow rule. That way there is a little more engineering and strategy options available.

No one said anything at Le Mans since there are so many other cars in different classes. The overall sound from the track did not really change much like ti did with F1.

I like the sound the cars make now.

It's assumed that LeMans will have very different sound signatures. The Audi racing catagory is prototype, so it's expected-but I'll tell you, it's certainly not my favorite catagory. That would be the GTE category, where the sound of the V8's in the Astons and Corvettes literately shake the ground.

I remember the first time I ever went to the 500. This was back when America had actual open wheel racing. It was CART and they were driving V8 turbos. As we approached the track to walk through the access tunnel under the track, I could hear that unmistakable V8 roar and the loud popping when they would lift. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Same thing the first year I went to Austin. We entered at the turn 11 gate during FP1 on Friday. I didn't have my ear plugs in yet and the wail of those V8's was deafening.

The sound of this sport makes it a visceral, emotional experience for me-it's a very important element in my enjoyment of it.

Of course I am going to still follow F1 as closely as ever. I'm just not going to spend the money to see it live.

    Lifted from Sniff Petrol:

"Red Bull say Ricciardo's front wing was held on with official FIA fuel flow meters."

(In case you missed it, they found another faulty flow meter on Ricciardo's car this weekend.)
