Ferrari does have their own wind tunnel but it had issues. They got something wrong and had to recalibrate the tunnel. It's why They had odd aero problems a few years back. However Haas has a full size tunnel where Ferrari only has one that fits scale models

The 18" wheel/tire testing was done on the Lotus. Unfortunate color choice for the wheels, IMO, ought to really fuel the fire for all the "Donk F1" critics.

I was going to upload and post that very video earlier, but I'm having a busy week
I thought this weekend's race was fantastic. I watched the SKY F1 broadcast, and I have no idea what announcer you guys were complaining about
That 14 lap duel between Alonso and Seb was fantastic, especially the way Alonso would park his car on the apex, then use the electric motor to boost his way out of the corners, just totally negating the RB's cornering advantage, over and over.
Some may not like the new hybrid power systems, but Alonso was using it, and using it well. Whenever he needed an extra 180 HP, BAM! He'd punch it and leave Seb wondering. Great stuff, and some nice aggressive cornering tricks as well. -

Great video, I'm guessing the mower was Mercedes powered, sure wasn't a Ferrari.

Zapski, is your Sky broadcast pay per view?
Will you let us in on the secret on how you get to watch it there? I would dearly love to not have to listen to it on MSNBCFXAB3CNNXYZ or whatever broadcasts it here. -

F1 should have gone to bigger wheels years ago. The 13s with the balloon tires is racing tech 1960s-1970s. Yes the materials and construction is different.
They can use bigger, less expensive brakes and get the same stopping power.
To make it work though the regs will need to change allowing changes in aero and suspension. Maybe this should happen next year as the teams are going to have to redesign the suspension to deal with the fric ban anyway. -
Yes, my understanding is that everyone has always known that bigger wheels and lower profile tyres would be faster, but it has been seen as such a monumental change that it has always been put off. The current 13" wheel diameter has been in use since the 1960s when it was actually fast. I think in the last round of F1 tyre supply bids, Michelin said it would only supply at 18" diameter and the bid was rejected as being unwanted change.
Tyre movement currently provides a lot of the suspension of F1 cars and if there is a change to 18s, everything in the suspension has to change. It is probably as big a change as going to hybrid power plants, even if it would put F1 back on the same path as all other motor sports. But it would produce exactly the situation we have now where one team gets the new formula right and all the others suffer.
And it's a shame to see ride-on mowers getting all the publicity - the British Lawn Mower Racing Association (yes, there is such a thing) has a 'Group 1' class for the real die-hards with run-behind mowers:
-
Since we Americans have to do things bigger and faster we have 2 Lawnmower Racing Groups. U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association and the American Racing Mower Association.

Don't forget the rototiller racing.

During a race, this site usually has a stream:
http://www.eplsite.com
This site rebroadcasts a lot of TV:
Time4Tv Channel Categories
And finally, this site re-streams all of SKY Sports:
Sky Sports 1 Live Stream | Live Sky Sports 1 Streaming
Now keep in mind that you should have an ad blocker, and pop-up blocker running for these sites, and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOWNLOAD ANYTHING from any of them. You only need Adobe's Flash player, and you should only get that from Adobe.Com. You will have to close ads within the video stream, and sometimes they hide the close button, so look carefully.
None of the streams are HD, but if you don't mind that you get to watch without commercial breaks during live race sessions, and you get to listen to Martin Brundle provide the commentary.
None of these locations are guaranteed to be up consistently either. They tend to get shut down from time to time.
If you miss the race, and want to watch it later in HD, you can usually get a torrent from the pirate bay within a few hours of broadcast. -

Well, this is ... different.
The folks at Motorsport Magazine are so sure F1 has fundamental flaws that they've put together a petition. You can actually go sign it.
Some of what they propose makes a lot of sense and maybe if Bernie sees it he'll ... I can't even finish that! Bernie will want a paper copy so he can use it to wipe his ass.

Lewis was left whining as Nico took pole...Nuff said...lol
What I'm left wondering is, is Kimi really that much off his game or is Alonso really that good? Given that the Ferrari is a POS this year. -

I really enjoy watching door slammer's. Those are cars I can relate to, unlike the F1 Hybrids. The Conti race is on the DVR. I'll be watching that in another day or so.

I'm not a Hammy fan at all. But I have to admit he drove a great race today. Coming from all the way back to 3rd while driving clean all the way. The last 15 laps with front wing damage.
He wasn't happy at all on the podium. At the end it was "I have my stuff and I'm ready to go now" -

I'd guess when you run at the front, third place is nothing more than third loser. It's a win or it's not good. Just my .02.

Lots of reasons why Hammy's got his knickers in a twist, Rosberg was in the news all week AND won the race......but his poor sportsmanship is really grating.....and I'm completely tired of it.
Anyone else notice the complete lack of attendance at this race? A German race car kicking butt all season, a German driver leading the championship and German sporting nationality on a high from winning the football title and very few people come out to see the race......meanwhile over 100K people are at the ADAC truck races.
I think F1 may have finally priced itself out of the market -and just cheap tix is not going to fix it...... -

Seems there were more Vettel fans in the stands than Nico fans. Maybe that will change if Nico manages to win the title. I was surprised by all the empty seats. I found it odd too with the German team doing so well.
