I like this open letter to the FIA about the fuel flow meters.
Dear Mr Todt why do we need these Ultrasonic Fuel Flow Meters? (grandprix247.com)

Formula One cars to clip playing cards to rear wheels
The disappointing sound of the new engines in Formula One is to be addressed with the use of playing cards clipped to the rear wheels, according to Bernie Ecclestone this morning.
With the move to V6 engines with electric power trains away from the previous V8 engines, the noise in the pit lane and around the track has been described as ‘disappointing’.
Formula One supremo Ecclestone told reporters, “A Formula One experience is not complete without at least partial hearing loss and ongoing tinnitus issues.”
“The roar of the old engines was almost enough to make your ears bleed, and that’s what the fans, teams and sponsors want.”
“We have looked at the possibility of microphones and amplifiers around the engines, but we’ve decided that playing cards on the rear wheels will offer the significant enhancement to the engine acoustics that we’re looking for.”
“We will be introducing a limit to the number of spokes allowed on the rear wheel to ensure no team has an unfair auditory advantage, though no doubt the creative teams will find a loophole in the regulations.”
“Before long the clickety-clack of a formula One car speeding past will be as recognisable as I am.”
Formula One engine noise
Teams have already begun assessing the impact of the playing cards in their simulators and wind tunnels, with some feeling they have stolen a march on the competition.
McLaren F1 spokesperson Simon Williams told us, “The small amount of extra drag we’ve experienced is more than made up for by the guttural sound from a playing card being thwacked at 190mph.”
“We’ve found that casino grade cards give the best acoustic return, but card degradation is going to be an issue for all the teams trying to complete a race distance.”
“It’s bad, but we’re just hoping Pirelli don’t move into the playing card business.”-

The lines in bold remind me of the first thing that came to my mind when I heard there might be inconsistency among fuel flow sensors. I didn't actually imagine teams having access to many sensors so they could pick a favorite, just expected some to get lucky to receive sensors that read inaccurately but in their favor.
Fuel sensors could decide races, warns Horner (racer.com)

As of today the three big manufacturers in Le Mans Prototypes have revealed their cars for the 2014 season, the Toyota came out today. Top to bottom, Audi, Toyota and Porsche.
We've been talking about weird noses on F1 cars.....look at that Toyota! I know, still better than the F1 noses but those square 'fenders' look pretty strange, right?

I've enjoyed the racing so far, but would like to see more of a battle for 1st after the first turn. I do find it interesting that last season when people commented about it being boring when Seb was dominating races, they were told to sit back and soak in the fact that we were watching something magical.

I just read an interesting note from Steve Matchete. (well, interesting to me)
This year the cars are heavier (when unfueled, 50kg heavier) but they start the races with less fuel. As a result of the fuel weight differential, they start races this year lighter than they did last year but finish heavier.-

Force India and Williams are giving every indication that they can run with the front pack now, and since they also have Mercedes power, I think we'll see some teams challenge Nico and Hammy.
I would not count Red Bull out yet, either.....Riccy Riccardo is showing RB that they made a good choice in moving him up to the varsity squad - I think he wants to get in there and mix it up with the MBZ boys.
And they have to stop giving Vettel all Mark's old parts....:biggrin5:-

Reports from Italy have confirmed that Stefano Domenicali did not resign from Ferrari as claimed yesterday and was actually used as a swap for a Mercedes engine.
‘The F14 T is not powerful enough,’ an insider confided to Sniff Petrol last night. ‘And the team was sick of Stefano capering about the factory doing impressions of Eric Morecambe rather than concentrating on new wind tunnel data and such like. This secret deal to swap him for a Mercedes engine solves both problems at once.’
Our Ferrari mole confirmed that a Mercedes V6 was covertly handed to the team this morning and will be installed in Fernando Alonso’s car prior to this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix. ‘Fernando will stop at nothing to win so he gets the Mercedes engine,’ our spy explained. ‘Whereas Kimi doesn’t even know who he’s driving for and will be happy as long as there’s enough Grey Goose in his drinks bottle.’
In return for supplying an engine that isn’t total dog ****, the Mercedes GP team gets full ownership of bespectacled being-on-television enthusiast Stefano Domenicali to do with as they choose. Sources in Brackley recently admitted that the team was worried many of its senior personnel come across as Germanic and sinister during TV interviews and it’s possible they will appoint the affable Domenicali as official spokesman to mitigate those concerns.
However, it seems more like that the ex-team principal will be kept at the Merc factory and used by Toto Wolff for ‘experiments’.-

Vettel's just not used to a car that slides around under him. Ricciardo is, and I'm betting that the RB is nailed to the floor compared to the STR. It's less of an adjustment for Ric than it is for Seb.
I also think that Hamilton's going to have Nico breathing down his neck sooner rather than later. I'm looking forward to a season of 1-2 fights at the front.
And how about Alonso? That was a stellar drive for a "weak" car!-

Ouch...
From motorsports:
May 11 (GMM) Formula one is not the loudest spectacle in Spain this weekend.
The feeder series GP2, still powered by naturally-aspirated V8 engines, is making more noise in Barcelona than the newly-quiet 'hybrid' Grand Prix machines.
Not only that, there are GP2 cars that are actually faster than their F1 counterparts this weekend.
Stephane Richelmi's name may be almost unknown beyond the GP2 paddock, but this weekend at the Circuit de Catalunya, the Monagasque's Mecachrome-powered DAMS 'outqualified' F1 stars Max Chilton, Jules Bianchi, Marcus Ericsson and Kamui Kobayashi.
Not only that, every car inside the top 13 in GP2 qualifying was faster than the Caterhams in Spain.
Force India's Sergio Perez said earlier that the louder, faster GP2 - with budgets eight times smaller than F1 teams - is "embarrassing".
"It's down to the regulations and there's nothing we can do," said Marussia's Graeme Lowdon.
"You couldn't criticise fans for asking that sort of question, and it's important people listen to it," he is quoted by Sporting Life.-
