There's an excellent set of historic Martini livery pics in this article. Williams-Martini deal confirmed
Williams have confirmed they will run an updated 20th anniversary Ayrton Senna logo on the nose of their FW36 car for the new Formula 1 season.
The anti-roll/sway bar is weird - is it really pressing on a link bar between the two lower wishbones, loading that small link bar in bending? OK, that would share anti-roll between the two front axles, but that small bar would have to adjust in length to allow for different suspension travel on the two axles. And why is the bar substantially reinforced transversely, a direction it isn't loaded in, but not vertically? Is its vertical flexibility a major part of the anti-roll bar flexibility? Wassup?
Doesn't look out of place to me. The bar attached to each wishbone is a rolled piece thus adding significant strength between the wishbones. It also appears to be able to adjust the location of the drop link front to rear to allow it to differ the load on each axle giving it a bit more fine tuning of the front suspension. A rather innovative design to say the least.
There's a good summary article here about a few of the top 2014 tech innovations. To help you decide whether to click, here are the topics: 1. McLaren 'Wishbone Wings' 2. Lower Beam Wing 3. Asymmetric Lotus (more so than you might think) 4. PCU-8D 5. Lack of Starter Motor Holes (SMH)
This is kind of unusual for the official F1 website, but it's a pretty interesting video. I'd have embedded it if I could, but.... Formula 1® - The Official F1® Website The only thing is, they spend some time trying to justify the double points rule.
And this is why the double points system is stupid. A team could underperform for half the season, then steal the championship from the team that got it right from the start. Also, boo-freaking-hoo! If anyone else had made the observation that Mercedes (or any other team) would dominate I wouldn't care. The fact that it's coming from the reigning world champions 4 times in a row just rubs me the wrong way. Besides, lapping the field was not an uncommon thing back in the day.

Whiting says that if there are no cars left during the race he will red flag it. I've been following F1 for 28 years and I've never heard anyone even thinking that was a possibility. If they loose half the field because of failure the new rules will be declared a disaster, at least by Bernie. Farther more the 100kg of fuel for the race is just for the race. You can put more in for the formation and cool down laps. but if you run out, you out. If you use more than 100kg you out. But that won't be known until hours after the race. So while the cars may not run out during the race they could be DQ'd at the end. Looks like a season of politics and rules not racing.
The most distance covered wins. Crazy, but that would decide it if they all DNF. Could be the safety car wins the race.
