I'm standing with Massa on this, like Sterling Moss said: "it's way to early in the season and Championship to be pulling over for anyone..." If Massa had pulled over, he would have effectively made himself the #2 driver.
Figures that one of the few races I can conveniently watch live is one where I won't be able to due to other obligations. :/
I just read an interesting note from Steve Matchete. (well, interesting to me) This year the cars are heavier (when unfueled, 50kg heavier) but they start the races with less fuel. As a result of the fuel weight differential, they start races this year lighter than they did last year but finish heavier.
US team in line for F1 debut but Ecclestone warns it will cost $1BILLION to make grid (dailymail.co.uk)
I really enjoyed watching all the teammates racing each other. I have a feeling that there might be several closed door meetings.
Yeah, and how many of you were focused on the sound as all that slicing and dicing was going on? show of hands? yeah, I thought so.....
I was! I noticed the sounds of the cars bottoming out. The tire chirps and the fact I could understand the drivers. I, for one, do not miss the high pitched scream.
While I do miss the sounds of the old screaming motors, the new quieter engines with unique notes does not bother me. You really can hear a lot more of the car and the radio transmissions make more sense now that you can hear them better. The racing was fantastic! I was thrilled to not hear team orders at the end and the teams letting the drivers race. I hope the rest of the season brings this quality of racing!
