I have a feeling Nico was given a message not to press to hard there at the end by Mercedes given his remarks during the podium interview.
Much, much better. Good on Nico for making a go of it. Even if he did come up short. Now if two or three teams could bring it up a little to get into the mix with the MB boys, the rest of the season will only get mo'better. The body language of Luca DeM after Alonso's radio message regarding lack of power didn't leave a lot to the imagination. Really wish the red cars could step up a bit. They certainly have two of the more dynamic drivers on the grid and it's a waste to see them fight for 9th and 10th.
This was a great race! I'm starting to understand how the Red Bull haters feel now that Merc is dominating.
Force India and Williams are giving every indication that they can run with the front pack now, and since they also have Mercedes power, I think we'll see some teams challenge Nico and Hammy. I would not count Red Bull out yet, either.....Riccy Riccardo is showing RB that they made a good choice in moving him up to the varsity squad - I think he wants to get in there and mix it up with the MBZ boys. And they have to stop giving Vettel all Mark's old parts....:biggrin5:
I have never been a Massa fan but I must say I have changed, looks like the great old William's team still has some bark left in the fight. And it doesn't hurt that it is in Martini livery.
What's that smell? From motorsports: Apr.8 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton claims teammate Nico Rosberg improved between the Malaysian and Bahrain Grand Prix by studying his data. The 2008 world champion, still 11 points behind championship leader Rosberg despite winning two of the three Grands Prix in 2014, revealed that when the German arrived in Bahrain, he was handed a "big document". A week earlier in Malaysia, Rosberg had been defeated by Hamilton by no less than 17 seconds, but in Bahrain the Mercedes duo diced wheel-to-wheel for the race win. "Someone in the team did a huge study on my pace in Malaysia," Hamilton told British newspapers, revealing that the document received by Rosberg detailed "all the places I was quick". "So I will do the same for the next round in China and hope I can capitalise," he added. "I am going to study hard for the next two weeks and give it a lot of thought and digest a lot." Hamilton finished just one second ahead of Rosberg in Bahrain, where the pair fought hard for victory despite team boss Paddy Lowe's radio call that they should "bring both cars home". "It's great they allowed us to fight and didn't get in the way," said Hamilton. But he warned that "if every single race is like that from now on, I can't always guarantee we'll both come out happy."
Compared to Sergio, neither he nor Nico seemed overjoyed on the podium. In fact, it seemed as if Lewis was more happily sharing the experience with the Mexican than with his teammate. I suppose he sees Sergio as less of a threat to his vision of a glorious run to a championship given Mercedes dominance thus far, and the apparent coolness between the two teammates is a natural by-product of their fierce competitiveness.
When Hammy comes out and says he can count his friends on one hand and Nico is on the list, I guess that would set the tone. Hopefully Hammy is going to get done to him what he did to Alonzo. Sorry, no I'm not a Hammy fan.
I thought that was an interesting quote as well, but he did say that both of them could count their friends on one hand and neither of them were on the other's list.
It might have been a veiled reference to the fact that Nico didn't invite Hammy to his wedding next month. Just got to watching the race last night. WOW. There's a funny quote from Nikki Lauda that I'll post in a few minutes. Just gotta extract it from the feed, and upload to the youtube machine....

You could have even picked that up from within this thread (hint - if you haven't seen that video yet, jump to 5:15). I think it's interesting Brundle and others are referencing someone as having broken this news just last week and they're only catching up now when it was actually out 3 weeks ago.
You know, I may indeed have picked it up from that video. My brain's a mess when it comes to remembering where I read / saw something. Though now I think of it, the Lotus Ground effects, Williams Active Suspension, and Red Bull Blown Diffuser cited in the video are all banned technologies. Think they'll ban the relocated compressor?
I think they'd be idiots to ban it because it furthers exactly what the FIA were driving at with this new power unit suite, greater efficiency. They get more power relative to the pseudo-traditional turbo layout being used by the others and they use less fuel.
This is good news, Haas could truly build an American F1 team that is competitive!! Now could Ford be the engine supplier......
Word is that Ferrari will be the engine supplier. I'd be surprised to see Haas working with Ford as the NASCAR team is Chevy based.
