Yup. The boohooing about actually having to pass Kobiashi ..,. Kind of unseemly for a reigning 4 time champion.
I laughed out loud when I heard him cry about being passed by a Caterham. I don't hate Vettel, but I am enjoying watching him learn how the other half of the grid lives.
Kind of puts to rest the argument of how good a driver Vettel is in a bad car. Give him a car that was tweaked to the max for him and he is a winner, give him one with teething issues and he is a whiner.
Alright, that's enough Vettel bashing..... If he wins again this year you all may have to eat your words....but I'll be the first to admit it's a very long shot! :biggrin5: I sure like the way Riccy Ric has taken to the challenge tho, if only they stop giving him Mock Weeba's old race starter..... I look for Hammy to just get more and more smug as the season goes along and he keeps winning.
I felt that was the way it was last year. Car was set up for Vettel & not for Webber. If Red Bull is smart they will make sure Ricciardo is happy with the car. He has shown he is the faster team driver.
I don't blame RB for building a car around it's best driver, but this is a real test of Vettles talent and "teamanship". Let's just see how well he can develop a car.
I'm not assigning blame. Just pointing out that the shoe is on the other foot this year for Vettel. Certainly he will be on the top step again.
Where would the Red Bulls be if the Renault power unit was better? It's improving..... That said, Ricciardo and Vettel are in the same car and the upstart has outqualified 3 out of 4 times and in both of the races where they both finished Ricciardo finished ahead of Vettel. I'm not pointing this out to bash Vettel but given the car was certainly developed for him and his driving style and Ricciardo had to adapt to it those results must seem ominous to Vettel. Meh, it's early in the season. Maybe Ricciardo has just been lucky so far.

I musta dozed off by that point! But then it was Kobyashi, the overtake hound - he would try for a pass even if he was driving a US postal van....
All the FIA did with all the rule changes is swap dominating teams. Red Bull and Vettel are out and Merc and Hammy are in. The smugness Minidave mentioned is what irritates me about Hammy. He forgets HE is now in the best car with the best engine.
Vettel's just not used to a car that slides around under him. Ricciardo is, and I'm betting that the RB is nailed to the floor compared to the STR. It's less of an adjustment for Ric than it is for Seb. I also think that Hamilton's going to have Nico breathing down his neck sooner rather than later. I'm looking forward to a season of 1-2 fights at the front. And how about Alonso? That was a stellar drive for a "weak" car!
I think the other teams will make up ground on Merc (maybe not this year, but probably by the start of next year). Teams took some chances on the new regs, so once they all see what seems to be working vs. not working I think it the gap will get closer.
It will take him a while to live down that "tough luck" comment. That's the trouble with being in the spotlight, there's always someone listening and hoping for a juicy sound bite.
