That's always been my complaint about Diffey but he's toned it down a bit over the years. Thanks to that and the fact I've just gotten used to him, I have few complaints with the commentary. I like that Rosberg has a DNF now, evens things out a bit on the good/bad luck side of the equation. As for Kimi...maybe Crash is right and he's just practicing for RallyCross.
Mattiacci said this morning that Kimi was under contract for 2015 and wasn't going anywhere - isn't that usually what they say just before they're released? :biggrin5:
I'm sure Kimi would be glad for Ferrari to buy him out a year early again. In my mind that would be a good move for Ferrari & Kimi.
Not so sure that wasn't the Finn's plan all along....revenge is best served up on plate full of Italian....
I like the commentators as a whole. But Diffey Sunday was so over the top on Hammy that you would have thought he just won the championship. I like the close racing. To bad it's not at front for more than 2 cars.
One report I've read says that Kimi was still in his car when he asked his team "Is Felipe OK?" on the radio. It seems amazing that Kimi even knew he and Massa hit each other, but then it seems equally amazing that Massa just about missed him. I guess no-one wants to repeat the damage done to Massa at Hungaroring in 2008.
Kimi is an amazing talent. Smashes into a guardrail spins like a top & gets spun around again after a near miss by Massa. Yet he is aware enough to ask if Massa is OK. Yep he his a special talent. Man I wish he was in a car that suited him this year.
Larger wheels and lower profile tires? This topic comes up often but Pirelli and the teams are actually testing now. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HQd3PPpOy0"]Pirelli test 18 inch banden op Silverstone - YouTube[/ame]
Haas Automation had their logo on the Ferrari at the last race. They are now an official sponsor. Could this mean that they have reach a deal to use Ferrari's power and other parts. Maybe Ferrari could come use the big wind tunnel to find out what's wrong with their car.
I'm sure the sponsorship is beneficial to both parties. I'd bet money on Haas having Ferrari lumps in the back of their cars when they hit the grid. Not sure if Ferrari has their own wind tunnel, if not I'm sure they will use the one Haas has.
Ferrari does have their own wind tunnel but it had issues. They got something wrong and had to recalibrate the tunnel. It's why They had odd aero problems a few years back. However Haas has a full size tunnel where Ferrari only has one that fits scale models
The 18" wheel/tire testing was done on the Lotus. Unfortunate color choice for the wheels, IMO, ought to really fuel the fire for all the "Donk F1" critics.
There are restrictions on wind tunnel testing, including model scale, that were written under the guise of limiting costs. But I don't think this would restrict a team from running their scale models in a full scale tunnel if that might improve results.

I was going to upload and post that very video earlier, but I'm having a busy week I thought this weekend's race was fantastic. I watched the SKY F1 broadcast, and I have no idea what announcer you guys were complaining about That 14 lap duel between Alonso and Seb was fantastic, especially the way Alonso would park his car on the apex, then use the electric motor to boost his way out of the corners, just totally negating the RB's cornering advantage, over and over. Some may not like the new hybrid power systems, but Alonso was using it, and using it well. Whenever he needed an extra 180 HP, BAM! He'd punch it and leave Seb wondering. Great stuff, and some nice aggressive cornering tricks as well.
