The Caterham Formula One team could be left stranded without tires at the Japanese Grand Prix, according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The report said a source close to F1's official tire supplier has claimed that Pirelli is warning Caterham it must make a payment ahead of the Suzuka race on Oct. 5. Backmarker Caterham almost collapsed midseason following the withdrawal of support of team founder Tony Fernandes, who sold the team to a group of Swiss-based Middle Easterners. "I believe our team was not set up to race in Silverstone," one of the new bosses, Manfredi Ravetto, confirmed in Singapore. "This is the truth. Since new ownership came on board, I think we managed not only to race in Silverstone but also to arrive to Singapore. I must say it's not a very easy task. "The financial situation is not one of the easiest. We inherited a situation which was more than critical." It is rumored the situation was so critical that Christijan Albers, who became Caterham's team boss after the takeover, quit once he realized that debts could not be paid. De Telegraaf claims Pirelli is one of the main creditors of ailing Caterham. - See more at: Pirelli losing patience with Caterham Formula One team | Autoweek
I have a set of worn down to racing depth tires mounted on wheels they can use. Heck I don't imagine they'll go fast enough to hurt them. They be able to finish the season on them.
BIG rumor going around today that Honda has bought out Alonso's contract and he'll be in the Mac next season. Pretty reliable source too......
Maybe they will again be the team to beat as in the Senna/Prost years. Changing the cars colors to orange and white probably wouldn't hurt either.
In all honesty, and me thinks Alonso to be the best, their relationship has not produced a championship for whatever the reasons. So it may be best for both to move on.... .....but I would still love to see Alonso being crowned Champion in Ferrari red.
Alonso is a great driver & IMO the best currently on the grid. He has carried his Ferrari farther up the grid than one would think possible. I hope he can land a competitive ride. He deserves much better than what Ferrari is giving him.
Agreed! I don't think Ferrari is going to set things on fire next year. The new management sounds very corporate and that never seems to work very well in F1. F1 teams seem to need a leader with a strong personality to succeed.

Talking about "DNA" sounds so much better than saying "I am averse to change, like everyone else my age".
