Speaking of Japan, this could provide some entertainment. Looming typhoon a threat to Japanese GP (grandprix247.com)
What does MA think about 3 cars per team. Ignore that it is too short of notice to do or some teams might not have the money for it. Is it a good idea? Will it improve the show? Will it help F1?
For 2016, maybe. Not for 2015. It's not my first choice though. I'd rather they go the customer car route temporarily. It could bring in more teams, and allow a future great to get their start, like some other teams I could mention. *coughWILLIAMScough* My ideal: Customer cars for a few seasons, maybe five tops. A less restricted formula that allows engine development throughout with greater aerodynamic freedom Maybe get rid of some of the less entertaining tracks by bringing back some of the old classics, or if that's not an option make some changes to the tracks. No DRS. For England and other countries, put it back on the BBC and other non-pay stations. Finally, for American audiences, Indianapolis. We equate Indy with racing, wether we're into motorsports or not. There should be a race there.
More moving chicanes. Yep that's what is needed, F1 jam cars will add to the enjoyment. Maybe Bernice should just the run the GP2 race at the back of the F1 grid. Or better yet put them at the front of the grid.
The way to bring in more teams and fresh faces is to allow start ups to run limited schedules during the season, get valuable track time and avoid the tremendous financial commitment of a full season in F1....
I agree, most of F1were single car teams thruout the history of the sport, with many teams buying cars and tech from other teams or mfrs. Some people will say that a single car team can't win it all, but I'm not so sure.....
I bet both Nico & Lewis wish they were in 1 car teams. I think 1 car teams would be a good idea. Why limit teams to 2 cars & now push for 3 car teams?
1. Teams can have up to 3 cars. Would allow start ups to dip their toe in the pool. Larger teams could use the third car for upcoming drivers (red that idea some place) 2. There should be more cars than grid spots. You want a chance at points, truly earn your way into the race 3. Based on the above suggestions, change the Constructor's Championship to only award points to the highest finishing car from each team.
Multi class open wheel racing. What a great idea. Has it been done before? F1, GP2, and Formula Fords. That would certainly make it interesting.
I imagine it's unlikely but there's a possibility the race will be run early. Depends on where the typhoon goes, and when. Current typhoon projection:
Holy crap! Someone just shook the silly season tree...hard. Red Bull say Vettel is leaving at the end of the season, to be replaced by Kvyat! One report says he's going to Ferrari.
