I really love wet races, but I seem to remember Suzuka doesn't drain well. They are calling for bucket loads of rain. Hope no red flags.
I wonder how they expect to get all the fans into the track under those conditions. If they do how will they get them safely home.
The main body of the typhoon isn't expected to hit the Suzuka area until Mon. There's plenty of rain, etc, in the outer bands though and that's what they'll have to contend with for the race itself. So, probably no real trouble moving fans in and out. The real storm comes later when the teams are supposed to be packing out and getting things ready to hit the road for the race next week in Sochi. Warm and snug in my house in MD I'm selfishly not so worried about how rainy it is in the stands, I just hope it doesn't turn into a safety car race.
With that much water down and significantly more on the way, plus the prospect of huge winds I don't think we'll actually see a race, I'm thinking the qualifying order is the race order.
I wonder whether Charlie Whiting's meteorologists are right...I hope not. Charlie Whiting, minutes ago: "I can say with a high degree of certainty the rain's going to get a lot heavier [around race time]." Asked "Is there a real possibility of race being cancelled?" He said: "Yes – that's the way it looks right now, anyway."
Still no change to the start time. No one really knows what's going to happen but odds aren't great we'll see a full length race. There is a fair possibility they'll do at least some racing and given there could be some red flag time I recommend extending your DVR recording time, just in case...if you have that option. I know, too late for most of you.
Spoiler (re Bianchi): . . . . . . . . . . There are other articles but few with any additional info that isn't speculative, so here's the official word. Bianchi undergoes surgery after Suzuka crash (formula1.com)
Horrible prang to be sure, under less than favorable weather conditions. Congrats to Hamilton on another nice victory.

Bianchi's photo doesn't look good. Massa flipped and drug on the roll hoop and it was still there. This image shows that entire structure gone. I hope he comes out okay.
I realized this weekend that I feel about this season the way non-Red Bull fans must have felt for the last 3 years. "So what a Merc is going to get the poll and a Merc is going to win" I better understand why F1 is loosing viewers. If your not a fan of the dominating team you loose interest. They need to change something to stop the 1 team domination.
Well do you remember the Schumacher years at Ferrari? Then the last 4 years with Vettel at Red Bull? This is just the next cycle of dominance & it's only been one year not multiple years. I don't care for steamroller dominance either. Thankfully there has been some great racing behind those two Benz boys. Ricciardo, Bottas & Magnussen have kept me entertained this year. Oh & the battling teammates have held my interest just a bit.
It's pretty much always been this way though, one team dominates for a season or two. Often the wins are by pretty big margins too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_World_Drivers'_Champions#By_season
