So...I got an email from Mid-Ohio today letting me know tickets go on sale December 2. In that email is the 2014 Schedule. Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio June 27-29 Buckeye SuperBike Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire July 12-13 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days July 18-20 The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio August 1-3 Nationwide Children's Hospital 200 August 15-16 There is one event I want to go to on this schedule, the Vintage GP. Looks like no season pass for this kid this year. Sorry Mid-Ohio, but you are going to have to better to get me back,
Yep, vintage races and maybe a Friday on Indy weekend.....that's it for me. I won't purchase my 2 VIP passes this year and they've lost me until it becomes a Sports Car track again. They don't care. I wrote them a long email about my disappointment in their recent direction, never heard from them. Can't wait to see the Classic Mini's this year. Firebro, get that car ready!!!
I agree, only 2 races for me this year. Can't blame Mid-Ohio for not having a sports car race. That was don by the racing sanctioning body. I actually feel sorry for Mid-Ohio, it's going to be a lean year for them. Vintage is the best weekend for sure.
Reporting on the recent amalgam of ALMS and Grand-Am, R & T notes the new series schedule does not include Lime Rock and Mid-Ohio. Don't say why other than they're "notable absences." Bummer
The money spent on a VIP pass was a waste this year. Maybe I'll take the money saved by not being a special VIP guy & put it to a track day or two at Nelson Ledges.
Yep only the vintage weekend and a Friday and/or Saturday of Indy. We've thought about going to see USCC at another track. But no decision yet.
I got a nice email back from Mid Ohio this morning. They ask that I renew my VIP passes and stated that they hope to have the TUDOR Series back in 2015.
...are you smoking geraniums this morning? No discounts although I've requested the club racing schedule for 2014.
No not smokin.... Seems to me it is not worth the cost of admission as a VIP. I'll pay at the gate like the schmo that I am. :donut1:
I agree with the gate tickets. My reference was to Mid-Ohio giving discounts, never going to happen. I'm going for the Schmo pass this year too!
3 more schmos will be going the same way. Although I'll get the tickets in advance so I don't have to wait in line. You know how much I hate being behind slower people.:cornut:
Yep I'll be spending some of my donut money to buy those tickets early too. I've marked Dec 2nd on my calendar. Please post a reminder Nathan.
Ill be at three of those events with the S2k for parade laps... :biggrin5: I guess I'm a super schmo becasue I'll get in free to all of them (one with a paddock pass)
