Hi Everyone, I have been looking everywhere, but have had no luck... What is the engine model number for the new 2014 Mini Cooper S? I know the 3-cylinder base engine in the 2014 Mini Cooper is B38, but can't find the designation model/number for the 4-cylinder in the S version. Since they just rolled out the engine upgrade in the Mini Cooper (S), I was wondering if we can expect the same for the 2015 Countryman and Paceman. I can't imagine them not, but was wondering what you guys think. From what I have read, BMW and MINI have plans to make the 2016 BMW X1 and Mini Countryman/Paceman cars built on the same platform, so wasn't sure about the engine roll out in 2015 for the MINI's... I would love to hear what you guys have to say!!! I just test drove a MINI Paceman S on Saturday, and loved it! I am fortunately though in no rush, so I have no problem waiting for the 2015 model, but 2016 might be a bit long... ~Dave
From a manufacturing standpoint, it doesn't make sense to update the current generation of Countryman and Paceman because they will be terminated soon. If you want the new engines, plan on waiting for the next generation Countryman and Paceman.
