Surprisingly, I didn't take many pics at all! This is the best one from a Hell Bender pull off on my first day.
Had a great time at motd. Thank you to Nate and Mark for your part in the event and thank you to anyone else that helped make it the great event is was, sorry that I don't know your names. Talked with all the vendors there and now know who to deal with and who to stay away from. all in all a great bunch of people. Making plans for next year already. Thanks Nick,Stephen and Seth for the drive home, even that was fun!! Chris
I had more fun this year than last. I met more people. I drove more roads. I swapped better beer. (helps if your there in time) For those interested... the item is still in it's place plus a canvas bag with the initials DBC??? Here are some of my pics. I was trying to make up for Chuck not being there. I'll have a few more after a little re-touch. Dragon 2014
Do you think it was more fun because you did less scheduled events or because you just made a concentrated effort to drive more? We were talking on Saturday that last year felt like we spent more time hanging out in vendor alley than actually driving. Partially because different people in the group were having different things done at different times throughout the week (which isn't a bad thing, it is part of the trip) and partially because the timing of the drives we signed up for would limit unscheduled drive time.
That is funny that there is now a canvas bag there! I wonder if it was full of items to make the use of the original item easier?
It was a great time. I want to give a shout out to the guys at Helix. I was going to buy a part from him but he told me another vender had a better one. I was floored by his honesty. I will remember that when time comes to do more mods to the MINI.
I too want to give a giant shout out to Helix and to Mikey and the guys Eric had with him at MOTD. My son Blake's R53 developed electrical gremlins the day before leaving for the Dragon. He took it to a shop who diagnosed the problem as a module with moisture in it, presumably the BCM. He drove the car to the Dragon and all indications from conversations there were that it was indeed the BCM...a giant bill to replace. All except Mikey from Helix who thought that it might be the ABS harness rubbing on the firewall and shorting out. When he diagnosed the problem in the Helix tent, sure enough, it was the ABS harness. He repaired the harness, reset the codes and the car has been great since. This could have turned to a $2,500 repair by a dealership or dishonest repair facility. HELIX = HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. Thanks Eric!!!
I signed up for runs everyday but only went on one. Then we ran when and where we wanted. I'll do the same next year.
You learn after your first year that there are much better roads down there than just running the Dragon.
Also people that have been to the Dragon before should not sign up for runs so the Dragon Virgins can do the runs. Especially if your not going to show up for them.
Yep Next year I'll sign up for a few runs to do with the wife and then the rest will be the cool roads that we ran on our own. Chris
