On one of the last laps, after Ricciardo had passed Kvyat, I heard a radio transmission between Ricciardo and his team telling him if he couldn't pass someone he would have to give the position back. I couldn't imagine what that was about, definitely didn't guess they'd made a deal.

Did anyone find out why the DRS was not working on Hamilton's car while he was in third place? Commentators were on top of it while it was happening but the hoopla about the big screw-up took over after the race and I haven't heard anything about it since.

An FP3 incident was investigated after qualifying. Vettel penalized for overtaking during red flag conditions. Note the last line, Vettel fessed up. This means Vettel and Verstappen will bring up the back of the field due to penalties with Button just ahead of them (I think). Should be fun to watch. :yesnod:

The talk about refueling or not to make the racing more interesting. The second Indy Car race in Detroit saw JPM go from 3rd to 10th because he was running out of fuel. Pitting that close to the end would have put him at the back of the unlapped cars.
At this point I think Indy Car racing is more interesting. They might have spec cars and engines but the racing is better.-

such tyres will have a lower grip and the weight will go up considerably so it's not an attractive direction performance-wise, so I think generally we would intend to stick with the 13 inch wheels.â€
This is why I find it hard to understand why road cars have such huge wheels anymore - sure it's a fashion thing, (I think most cars look ridiculous with 18-22" wheels) but the weight! Have you guys tried to lift any of these 22"s? They're heavy as hell!
I'm not suggesting all cars should have 13" wheels, just that I think the trend has gone way overboard.
The handling dynamics would have to be completely rethought, as the tire currently provides a lot of the springing action in the suspension - if they go to a shorter stiffer sidewall suspension parts will break. It will require a total redesign of the suspension and braking systems - which in turn will require a total rethink on aero....... it will be hugely expensive-

Somebody explain to me how a 25 place grid penalty to a back-marker in a field of 20 competitors is of any benefit to the racing spectacle. F1 has turned into the race to the bottom. Let's see who comes in last with the most penalties.
For those trying to win the race, you have to save fuel so you lift and coast into the corners. You need to preserve your tires.
If you try to improve your car, there is little or no testing unless you test it in the race. Of course that would have mean you changed something so it would mean a grid penalty.
The final placements of this year has pretty well been determined already on race 1.
Why am I even bothering to watch this? AURRGGHHH!!!!
Sorry....I just needed to get that off my chest. I think I'll go back and watch the entire 24 hours at Le Mans. now.-

That wasn't my point - if the fans want to actually do something about the show, they need to vote with their wallets.....
Vettel sure looked disappointed after qually, didn't he? I really think he thought he had a shot at pole today.....
He said the Mercedes always seems to have a little something extra come qually - maybe he was remembering when he used to regularly do that when driving for Red Bull.....
Nico really let it get away from him, didn't he? He was up the two tenths he needed too, all he had to do was finish the lap.....this really looks to be the Hamster's year, even when it goes wrong for him it goes right.-
