I understand Vettel's anger. He was lucky to escape unharmed. I'd be mad at my team & Pirelli.

And another reason to go with larger wheels.......you get a stiffer sidewall and probably an easier car to set up as the pressures would not fluctuate as much.

Rest assured Dave there will come a time when the next team figures out how to head the field. The only constant in F1 is change.

If it doesn't happen sooner, the order is likely to be disturbed when cars change again for 2017. Of course, it's possible that who leads is determined these days by who spends the most. I haven't seen recent numbers but I get the feeling if you checked you'd find Merc out spending everyone else, and that's not likely to change in 2017. I don't care that one team is dominating, it's rare that's not the case anyway, but I do wish it was less likely to be a direct result of the ability to spend more money.

Would you rather have a spec class of racing? Everything the same only the colors of the cars different?

They should change the rules for those teams who can't get it right?

I respectfully & strongly disagree. Racing is about one driver beating another on the track & one team out engineering another. As long as they follow the rules set forth by the powers that be it is all good for me.

    EDIT
As far as outspending goes, that is racing too. Even in SCCA club racing it is often about who can outspend another. I have personal experience with that.

It's practically a spec series these days anyway.

No, what I'd like to see is the same many others have said, relax the rules and let some innovation happen....

The things that made F1 so interesting in the past were the variety of solutions the teams came up with to make the cars win - I don't need to rehash all that now, but think of what could be done with today's technology if they weren't so constrained!

As far as spending goes, I have no answer for that, but as others have said, it's always been so.

The old saying in SCCA racing was - How fast you wanna go? How much you wanna spend?

It was the same way with Can-Am, all sorts of cool innovative stuff till finally one (German) team came in with the killer ($$$) car ($$$$) and dominated ($$$$$) the series ($$$$$$) till it finally gave up.

But it sure was fun while it lasted!

I know that they do those to make the drivers more accessible to the fans, but most of those podium interviews are awful.

Anyone else catch Lewis' little slip of the tongue during the Lucas interview about why he couldn't win by 25 sec each race?

    Lewis said..........."I could" :D

How is this a slap in the face? If the regulations allow them to put the new improved 2016 lump in why not? Benz is doing nothing wrong, the other teams are it seems. This sport is all about winning & Benz is doing that best at the moment.

    Yep.

I got good news from my sis just now, winds have dropped off completely and the fire has stopped advancing her direction now - fingers crossed.

I'll stop hijacking the thread now - back to Singapore!
