Fantastic start, and some of the best racing of the season up until Lap 41. Afterward, not so much...

True, but let's not forget the huge leap made by RB. Ferrari have gained a bit in Merc's direction, even more impressive given Merc must also be improving, but RB had much further to go. Remember how they started the season. Credit also to Renault? They're clearly improving their engine reliability and I read last week they're planning to use some of their development tokens for a performance bump but not for a few more races...can't remember the timing.

McHonda are also showing clear signs of turning the corner. Here's hoping they can keep it up...though I'm sure the mid-fielders would disagree.

Watching the shots of the cars driving through Eau Rouge were great though!

The less I see of Lewis during the race the better...usually means he is on his way to another victory!

F1 accidents to continue in 2016

Lotus is to retain Pastor Maldonado for a third season, saying that they believe the Venezuelan driver remains ‘on the money’.

‘We know we can bank on Pastor,’ said a team spokesman. ‘We love his great yen to pound the track at the Euro races and his pace, oh, it’s top dollar.’

The team admits that Maldonado doesn’t always return the car in one piece but they are confident he can ‘keep it in check’.

‘Yes, Pastor has made the odd paying-in slip,’ our source admitted. ‘But in the end, he always delivers. Usually in a plain black briefcase.’

‘Of course there are critics who say we should let a younger, faster, less shitter driver have a go,’ our mole confessed. ‘But there are lots of reasons why Pastor should keep his seat. 20 or 30 million of them, in fact.’

Team replies to snarky Alonso remark in the best way possible

Manor Formula One hasn't scored a single point in the standings in 2015, but you can chalk one up for the backmarker team in the "sick burns" department

During the F1 press conference in Russia on Thursday, McLaren Honda driver Fernando Alonso was asked a question about Manor having Mercedes engines, to which the former champion replied, "they can put an airplane engine (in the car) and they would be no further (ahead)."

Strong words from a driver whose average finish this year is 15th and who drives for a team that has consistently finished at the rear of the pack.

The "pot-calling-the-kettle-black" scenario was not lost on Manor.

The former Marussia team tweeted a fantastic response to Alonso's jab.

"We'll let that comment lie for now," Manor F1 tweeted. "Plenty of time to discuss it when we're garage neighbours next year." The team even added a kiss-blowing emoji.

The tweet is in reference to garages being set in the order of the standings.

As often as RB has thrown Renault under the bus, I don't blame Merc and Ferrari from staying away from them.

I really hope these two really go after each other on the track for the last three races since the Constructor's and Driver's Championships are locked up.

I agree with you minimark. Great venue for a race & amazing fan attendance. For me the race was an entertaining one. The whole red car thing was amazing. What happened to kimi didn't surprise me & I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. Wonder if Bottas laughed as well. Was that Vettel or an impostor in a red suit? He drove like Maldonato.

I'll keep watching. Yes they have buggered things up, but it is still racing & I love that stuff. If someone makes a time machine I'm willing to go back a few decades for better racing & a younger me.

This is true, but a car with no engine makes not a sound.
