I've seen a lot of odd wing pics but I don't remember these two.

The crossover bridge said Silverstone.....when did they start running 8 speed gearboxes? Last I heard was 7.....seems unnecessary with engines that make a lot of torque like these......

The Prost raced during the X-wing time in '98. Ferrari, Jordan, Tyrell and some other teams also ran X-wings for a few races until they were banned.

I think the cockpit/nose wings were banned after it's debut in practice at Monaco 2001, and never raced like that. The Arrows had a high wing at the tip of the nose above the front wing at the same race.

Interesting tech note from Red Bull. In previous years they ran a high rake on the car and ran very close to the road. To keep the plank from waring away they used a dense metal block ahead of it on the same plane. Other teams switched to doing the same thing. Now that block has been switched to the titanium ones used for the sparks. Since they ware faster RB can't run as close to the road hurting the down force.

Small things can make a big difference.

If Honda had prior F1 experience, it might not be taking so long for them to get the engine properly on song

This is just unbelievable.....I have not really been a McLaren fan since Senna left, but I really want the days of them battling for the top spot to return. If for no other reason, simply the name Bruce McLaren....

ha, I did put the smiling devil emoticon with that statement....I have been around the block a time or two in the world of F1....longer than I want to admit-about 25 years or so...right about the time the greatest there ever was, Senna, was making his rise....

I get that the technology is nothing like it was when they left the sport, but they have continued to build racing engines.... a bunch of them. It just seems to me that if you already know how to build compact, high performance engines, you just get up to speed on the new components/technology and go.....it's a terrible and sad thing to watch...

both very good points. heck, they were doing combustion-electric hybrid passenger cars, what, 15 years ago when the Insight was introduced? I would think they could have nailed F1 hybrid technology fairly quickly.....baffling.

Thinking about it, these changes will have almost zero practical effect. The embarrassing carry-over penalties are gone for those who can't move back enough spaces on the grid, that's good, but the rules are otherwise unchanged and the penalties themselves will only increase in number as the season goes on. Honda drivers get another engine each...how much will that help, really?

yep, you said exactly what I was thinking. Probably too many potholes and lose pavement in NJ to host an F1 race.......just like the rest of the USA unfortunately.:eek6:
