An ok race for me. Not really as exciting as the one from Britain. I really like the tribute everyone carried for JB.

Not to forget that if not for a flat tire Rosberg would have been on the podium at the least... Hamilton was the one who had a meltdown when things weren't going his way off the start and with all the mistakes he made, he still managed a respectable finish all things considered. MB is still the faster cars, but Ferrari does seem to be catching up a tic..
-
Totally agree, but it would be folly to think that MB has nothing up their sleeve for the second half of the season.
-
Me thinks Minidave hit the nail on the head.

It's a relative thing, performance, that's true. The track type always makes a difference. In addition, Ferrari, RB and McHonda results in Hungary make them look better than they would had Merc not fallen briefly off the rails. But I think they've all made strides forward since the start of the season, esp. RB/Renault and McHonda, that show regardless of track related strengths/weaknesses.
I agree the very next race, Spa, will likely make Hungary seem like a bit of an anomaly compared to other mid-season races but once the dust settles consider relative improvements since the opener in Australia.
And don't forget all bets are off re race starts now they've outlawed clutch setting, etc, advice between the pits and starting grid. Should make it slightly more difficult for arm chair pundits like me to guess current relative performance. -

Interesting video on how the cars could be different in 2017

That rear wing seems interesting. Not sure of some of the justification for it....
-
Sure like the idea of bigger tires.

Removing Monza from the calendar...that will be the day. Take away the home race of the most famous and popular team in the sport?
Isn't he just saber rattling to get more money from the venue operators for the race?
Unless he dies or just goes away, I could see him attempting to drop ALL of the races in the Western World.....We just don't have enough oil and gas money to pay whatever he wants to stage races anymore...
I have such a love/hate relationship with this sport... -
And what a punch line! That's a duesy, as I believe you guys say*.

The Indy race at Mid Ohio had a new idea that would be nice to add to F1 (like the 2 different compound tires) It's a light board up on either side of the "air box". It shows the position of the car, the pit time, and flashes PP when the push-to-pass is activated. Instead of the push-to-pass F1 could have the DRS.
On TV we have all that info but at the track is a nice bonus for the fans. -

Since we don't have an Indy car thread and why start it now with only 2 more races. I say congrats to Graham Rahal for winning the Mid Ohio race, his home track.
He is now only behind Montoya by 9 points for the championship.opcorn:

Graham should send Sage Karam a thank you card. Sage's questionable spin may have been to help Dixon, but it set Graham up for the win. Graham drove a great race & even with 2 restarts at the end managed to head the field. Great win for him & all the local fans.
Amazingly Sage Karam got away with it. Indy Car will take no action. :incazzato:
