^^^^ Can't do that in an Infiniti.

I dunno, even with the MB domination last year, and the RB domination of the last 4 years, I've still seen some pretty good racing. Besides, F1 always has been "the team with the fastest car wins," so it's sort of the nature of the sport.
Not that it couldn't be improved by having more relaxed rules.-

I don't care that Infiniti is on there any more than I care about the name of a bank or a drinks company or whoever else decides to help pay the bills in exchange for a bit of fast-moving ad space. That's been a part of F1 (and all other motorsport) since before the days of John Player Special. However, I'm definitely not a fan of the purple that comes with the Infiniti logo... :frown2:
Speaking of Infiniti, I wonder who gets to be the new Infiniti "Director of Performance" now that Vettel has abdicated the position. I'm picturing a coin toss with both Ricciardo and Kvyat hoping to lose.-

I think I it makes Infiniti look bad and I would not buy one. If your an auto company and want to be seen in a race series than you should put your big boy pants on and come race.

As much as I like F1 it is just becoming more irrelevant. I remember going to Indy 500 practice. You could walk around and see the teams. Everyone was friendly. Then when I went to the F1 race in Indy every thing was blocked off you couldn't get near the teams. It's odd I thought the fans were important to a race.

When they bought in, those investors weren't interested in F1 other than as a tool to increase profit-taking. Bernie sold out because by then he, also, was only in it for the money. Since then things have been exactly as you suggest. There are investors in charge and it is absolutely Bernie's job to make them rich(er). But when Bernie sold out, F1 didn't need their investment. Bernie wanted it.
Naive Steve over here wants what he can't have. I admit it! I want it to be about racing and its trappings. If people find they can make money racing or selling food or souvenirs or broadcasting the races or anything else that goes with the racing, that's fine. But when the guy who's in charge of promoting the series and making it grow decides no aspect of the racing is more important than his bottom line and the amount of money he can extract, I want him replaced. Investor owners who don't care about racing for the sake of racing will never fire a Bernie.
The series is a business. Fine. That's a good thing. Someone needs to think of it that way and do things to make it grow or, bare minimum, keep it stable/viable. But put the profit back into the business. If they did that there would be plenty of cash to work with and the racing could be allowed to be the main focus even to the extent of (and I know this is blasphemy to money grubbers) making decisions and changes that improve the sporting side without them needing to also improve an investor's perception of the entertainment value and despite occasional adverse effects to the bottom line.
In my opinion, Bernie doesn't care one iota about whether racers and racing enthusiasts enjoy F1 and he's not interested in finding a balance between that and increasing extractable profits.....unless it will increase extractable profits.-

Business is about making money for your investors. But if you sacrifice the product and alienate your market there won't be a business for the investors to make money on.

The lap 13sih fight between Button and Perez was the highlight.
And I never in my life thought that McLaren would be a back-marker.
Geez. :frown2:-

To me it was enjoyable to see the younger drivers battling it out for points, it's not like anyone was going to catch the Merc boys. I know it wasn't his fault this time, but I wonder if Lotus adds contingency $'s to their yearly racing budget to account for Maldonado's crashes! It will be interesting to see how the next couple of races play out from a car reliability perspective.

One of the reasons I like F1 is that they do continue to race in the ran (unlike other series...), so it would make sense to have some dedicated testing to keep it from being a series of saftey car led parade laps.-
