Don't rib the Chinese too much, as COTA in Texas had a dog run across the track during practice for the US bike GP: Not crowning themselves in glory, this was after COTA had delayed the start of first practice as the track marshals hadn't got into position - but then it was raining, so maybe they thought there wouldn't be any racing?
Haven't decided. Race starts 2am my time. If I'm smart, I'll set the DVR and hit the sack before it starts.
FYI, and speaking of setting the DVR, the WEC 6HR at Silverstone is being broadcast LIVE in the US tomorrow (Sun, 7:00am Eastern) on FS1.
Le Flop... From motorsports: Chinese Grand Prix organisers say Formula 1 will need to change in order for Shanghai to extend its current deal to host the race. The Chinese city has been part of the F1 calendar since the 2004 season, and its current contract expires after the 2017 event. However, ticket sales have declined in recent years and the race lost UBS as its title sponsor after 2014, organisers failing to find a replacement for 2015. Promoter Juss Events has cast doubt on the future of the race. "Changes have to be made to the sport," Juss Events marketing manager Yang Yibin told the Shanghai Daily when asked if Shanghai will extend its contract. "UBS was the title sponsor of last year's Chinese GP, but they didn't extend the contract this year, and there must be a reason for it. "Maybe we can expect something new when we go into the post-Bernie [Ecclestone] era." Yang believes less exciting races is one of the main reason for the declining audience. "There are various reasons, like one team dominating several seasons and smaller teams finding it hard to challenge the bigger constructors." Yang said. "The races are not as brilliant as they were a decade ago."
Interesting read... The Buxton Blog I wish I’d taken a look at Ferrari’s odds of winning the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship in late December last year. If only because it would have given me a better intro to this piece than to say I wished I had. You see, there’s no way on earth I’d have wasted a penny on the bet back then. I don’t know of many inside the paddock who would have done either. Perhaps not even Sebastian Vettel. And yet here we sit, albeit after only three races, and regardless of the as-yet humble proclamations from Maranello that they’re a long way off fighting for the title… Ferrari might just have a genuine shot. ......
Its early days, but I don't see a red car winning the championship. I do believe they will keep the silver guys looking over their shoulder & they may win another race or two. :fingerscrossed:
So do you think Merc was sand bagging in the first 2 races? They wouldn't want to go all out because being that far ahead something may have been done to slow them down. Now that Ferrari has showed what it can do they turned the wick up to the true performance.
