He really flew when he got hit, didn't he? Apparently the Lotus pits were at pains to point out that it was his abdomen that the ice pack was on, though why any other location should need denying, I don't know. Maybe in case his wife was watching on TV?

So how come his ankle got injured too?

Doesn't look like he's using the ice on his abdomen

I'd say either the jack hit him pretty hard in the ankle (can't quite tell from the video) or it happened when he landed.

Following his success in Sunday’s London marathon, Jenson Button has announced plans to run the forthcoming Spanish Grand Prix, claiming it will be ‘faster than using the McLaren’.

As well as significantly improved pace, Button is said to be believe that tackling the Catalunya track on foot will bring other major advantages over using his MP4-30. ‘Jenson managed to complete the London marathon without once belching steam and coming to a halt at the side of the course,’ said a source close to the team. ‘Nor did he suddenly get told to sit out the rest of the event for mysteriously unspecified reasons and then have to give an interview in which he is forced to claim the team is ‘making progress’.’

Although the idea of running 190 miles rather than using a car is likely to be extremely challenging, Button is said to be sanguine about potential problems including the risk of needing to take a Paula Radcliffe-style poo stop in front of all the fans. ‘Jenson is cool with that happening,’ our insider noted. ‘It certainly won’t be the first time he’s had trouble with the super softs.’

With less than two weeks until the Spanish race, the phlegm voiced racer is now in talks with Pirelli to buy some extra durable trainers and is working on precautions against the single biggest threat to his Grand Prix marathon – being run over by Pastor Maldonado.

You got to give him credit. Even after the wack he was still doing his job.

At least Alonzo's jack man saw him coming and jumped out of the way.

Speaking of Alonso, I read they think his brake problem was caused by a visor tear-off blocking a duct.

I've been wondering for years about where those things end up. Seems they must end up in places where they're not welcome every once in a while but we never hear about it.

Coincidentally, I remember in that same race seeing onboard video of a driver with something flapping on the side of his helmet. When he reached up and pulled it off I decided it was probably a tear-off but there was no way to know whether it was his own, incompletely removed, or from someone else.

I think that was Kimi with a tear off flapping in the breeze. I remember an Indy car driver who pulled a tear off let it go only to have it end up in his turbo. DNF.....

At the first Singapore f-1 race the Singapore govt. was either going to fine

or put in jail any driver or team mgr. that would have a tear off hit the

pavement. They backed off on that but they are still very ocd on sanitation/

    trash.

Lewis did seem pretty concerned about re-hydrating on the podium.

Next race will be interesting if both Mercs aren't in the front row after quali.

Well, it's Monaco, so you know there will be a missed turn at Sainte Devote during the third session....

Monaco seems like the perfect track to break from the trend of getting an early time in and then waiting to the last minute for your best lap in Q3. It would be a bit of a gamble, but could eliminate the risk of a "missed" turn bringing out a yellow on your flyer.

Apparently when Stirling Moss crossed the line to win at Monaco in 1961 his car looked like this. At least he was probably nice and cool.

Top comment (from Craig Scarborough): "some on needs to do a vinyl wrap on the side of an F1 car next week to look like that!"
