It was working better than the other solutions. Now if they can apply the same kind of thinking to the car.

It's nice to solicit the opinions of those involved but at the end of the day one person needs to make the decisions. Ruling by committee is a sure fire way of getting nothing done.
Here's a little Monte Carlo video history. https://vimeo.com/128352038 [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuCo6fxs3hU"]Stirling Moss wins Monaco Grand Prix (1956) - YouTube[/ame]

An in-car film (I'm guessing) from Graham Hill in 1970 - with a manual gearchange. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdTw6BhFxYE"]F1 1970 Monaco - Graham Hill Onboard Lap - YouTube[/ame] Interesting to see the circuit with a short tunnel, a high-speed waterside chicane with a barrier waiting to take your life, and no track kink round the swimming pool. The driving looks fairly leisurely but apparently drivers used to end the race with a blister in the palm of their right hand from the 2,000+ gearchanges.
Twice this season, right? Maybe they're just trying to keep it "interesting" between their two drivers by evening things out?
Pretty sure this interview took place prior to today's race...and the final outcome proves there is a greater good working in this world. Back to you Bernie. https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/formula-1-rosberg-vettel-bad-business-112322480--f1.html
Hamilton, you get $150,000,000.00 Rosberg, you get to win Monaco GP three times in a row. Nobody gets everything.
Just watched the race and am glad that Max is okay. Good thing he didn't get airborne with all those corner workers right there!
I think Max's youthful exuberance got the better of him. That was an incredibly low percentage pass & a very hard hit. I too am glad he is OK.
Don't know whether he's right or just grasping for straws but he claimed Grosjean hit the brakes 10-15 meters earlier than usual. Brake check for the new guy. Grosjean, assuming he's actually innocent of such, was quite diplomatic. Said something like 'it's very difficult to pass at Monaco, maybe he learned that lesson.'
